L. and W. platform in Scranton. Digni- taries from Wilkes-Barre, Nanticoke and Scranton were there to wish them well, and a pleasant trip to Colorado Springs. There were speeches, there were marching songs, and there were a few tears as Girl Scouts started off for the big adventure. Bonnie West, Marilyn Eck, and Peggy Hall appear in this picture in the official garb of forest green Bermuda shorts, white blouse with Round-Up emblem, and high green socks, in which they will arrive at the Round-Up this afternoon. For the start, Marilyn and Peggy wore their Mariner Scouts uniform, and Bonnie her Senior Girl Scout outfit. When they reached Chicago yesterday, and boarded the spe- cial train, they changed to shorts. The fifty-three girls from the Wyoming Valley-Scranton area joined Girl Scouts from Philadelphia and Stroudsburg. When the train pulled into the station Tuesday, it had a car reserved for Girl Scouts. When the train pulled out at 1:45, Girl Scouts were already making new friends. : Mrs. Stanley Davies, Mrs. Stefan Hellersperk, and Mrs. Calvin Hall represented the Back Mountain. Each girl was permitted only one piece of luggage. Everything else had been sent ahead June 10 in duffel bags, the woolen babush- kas, the warm pajamas, the heavy outerwear which life in the high Rockies requires the instant the sun is down. Marilyn, official correspondent, will write an account of the trip and send it airmail as soon as she is settled, for publication in the Dallas Post next week.
