Again it was the high scoring Augustine who put the dampers on the Scotties’ hopes for an upset. He collected 32 points. The first quarter was nip-and- tuck as the teams exchanged basket for basket and the quarter ended 19-all. Augustine and Collotty with eight each led the Rockets. Lopasky with seven, and Leach with six, kept the home forces’ at- tack moving. The second period slowed down as far as the scoring went and Ash- ley held a slim 31-26 half-time margin. Augustine had nine in the quarter. With Lopasky and Leach finding the range again, Lake-Lehman got back in the ball game and battled on even terms with the Rockets until the final two minutes of the period when the visitors extended their lead to eleven points mainly on the shooting of Augustine who netted 11 more tallies to make it 51-40 at the end of the quarter. Ashley played a possession type game in the fourth period thus pre- venting the Scotties from getting many chances for baskets which they needed badly. Augustine received scoring help from Collotty who finished the game with 14, mostly long one-handed shots from the side of the court, Lopasky was high for Lake-Leh- man with 22 while Leach followed with 15. During that time he coached the Shavertown Metho- dist team. He also served as League treasurer for two years. Not only was this great sportsman associated with the Church Basketball League but also gave many hours managing the Teen-Agers and Senior Teeners during the baseball season. We cordially invite all who knew Mr. LaBar as well as those who did not to get out and back this night held in memory of him. ] All proceeds will go to the family of the deceased. There will also be a moment of silent prayer out of respect to a man who will be greatly missed but who has won his reward above.
