N TERRE . DALLAS, PENNSYLVANIA Here Is A Brief History Of March 14, 1850, a council con- vened at what is known as the Dur- land School House in Northmore- land Township, Wyoming County, and publicly recognized thirty-two brethren and sisters as an inde- pendent Baptist Church. ‘Within one year the membership had grown to 51 persons. During the year 1851 construction of the present church building was started at Center Moreland. These were lean years and it was only with great personal sacrifice by its mem- bership that the present House of Worship was completed in the fall of 1856. ‘Northmoreland Baptist Church The formal dedication service of the Northmoreland Baptist Church took place on January 1, 1857. Eld- ers C. A. Fox, Benjamin Miller and George W. Scofield participated in the ceremonies, with Elder Fox preaching the opening sermon. Within two years the membership had grown to 98 persons. A period of eleven dark years followed in which the troubles of a divided nation took its toll. Church history records it as “a time of Spiritual drought and barrenness during which the growth of Christ’s followers was dwarfed.” An upsurge of spiritual interest THE DALLAS POST, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13, 1957 and growth was noted in the winter of 1870. A second House of Wor- ship was constructed at Vernon in 1873 and the Dedication Service was held December 18 of the same year with Elder Lowry preaching the opening sermon. During 1875 the membership had grown to 148. Throughout the years the Mother Church and the Mission Church at Vernon have cooperated to promote the cause of Christ in the respective communities. In 1951 the Com- munity Baptist Church of Vernon was organized and the Church prop- erty at Vernon deeded to the new- ly created organization without charge by the Mother Church. On July 9, 1890, the Northmore- land Baptist Church was chartered by the State of Pennsylvania in ac- cordance with the requirement of an Act of the General Assembly of In an fairly priced. This means there's a flavor available for almost everyone. E. V. Chadwick, county agent, says in general, the light colored honeys are mild flavored, while the darker honeys have a richer, fuller flavor and color. Light colored honey is generally sold as clover, but there are many other sources such as locust, sumac, basswood, goldenrod, and aster. Dark honeys produced in Pennsyl- vania are tulip poplar, buckwheat, blackberry, and many other wild flowers.
