New Preacher Arrives At Maple Grove Church Members of the pastoral commit- tee of Maple Grove Methodist Charge were on hand Monday night to wel- come the new minister, Robert M. Brittain when he and his wife drove up to the parsonage at 9:30 p.m. after a long hard motor trip from Mr. Brittain who succeeds Rev. Paul Clemow will preach in the Maple Grove, Meeker and Loyalville Churches on Sunday. Born and reared in Weaverville, S. C., Mr. Brittain received his local preacher’s license in the Methodist Church at the age of seventeen and began preaching in the charges of the Asheville Circuit. In 1955 he accepted a call to the Mauckport Charge in the Southern Indiana Conference and in 1956, following his marriage, he moved to Vance- burg to serve a five point charge. Next month he will enter Temple Theological Seminary in Philadel- phia, returning to his charge week- ends. Five Hundred Cattle Entered In NEPA Shows Thursday Through Saturday Will Be Big Days At Tunkhannock With eight area Local Dairy Cattle Shows in progress to select entries for the Eleventh Annual NEPA Cat-. tle Show which is comprised of daughters of NEPA sires, one of the largest and best dairy cattle shows in Northeastern Pennsylvania is in the making. The annual event includes four separate shows staged simultaneous- ly on August 28, 29 and 30 at NEPA grounds in Tunkhannock and will attract 500 head of fine dairy cattle of all breeds as well as thousands of spectators. The first day is for youth, when more than 100 boys and girls will parade 200 4-H and F.F.A. project heifers in the annual Northeast Round-up. These shows are conduc- ted independently but at the same time under a large tent featuring two rings. The 4-H show is con- ducted by the County Agents of Northeastern Pennsylvania with Joe Staley of Wayne County in charge. The F.F.A. show will include Voca- tional Agriculture project heifers and is conducted by the Area Super- visors with Howard Newcomer di- recting. Then on Saturday, August. 31st there will be. @ Sheep Field Day under auspices of Wyoming and Lackawanna County Breeders. Edu- cational demonstrations will feature the program.
