NOTICE Estate of Fred J. Mack, Deceased. Letters Testamentary on the above estate having been granted | ship. Monroe Wants Out (Continued from Page 1) This present arrangement, Man- near said, is a poor .bargain for forty years, and Kingston Township is not prepared to tie itself unless progress can be made. A motion to free Monroe Town- ship from its contract, and permit immediate jointure with Tunkhan- nock, was blocked by Dallas Town- ship and Franklin Township. Henry Hess, spokesman for Franklin, said he considered a five-district jointure better than a four district, and people in Monroe should have a chance to vote on it as they did two years ago when they joined Dallas area. Attorney Valentine said that the vote to join with Dallas area was a straw vote only, not legally on the ballot at the referendum two years ago, and not legally binding, needing no recall or further vote. Mr. Smith and Mr. Hadsell agreed that a union district under present conditions could not gain the vote of the electorate in Monroe Town- Mr. Hadsell said that the instant petitions were circulated, counter petitions would follow. Monroe Millage Has Risen Mr. Smith pointed out that since jointure with Dallas and Franklin Township two years ago, and with Dallas Area one year ago, millage in Monroe has increased from 21 A. Gould and her husband, Edward M. Gould, has filed her Petition in the Court of Common Pleas of Lu- zerne County to No. 1155, July Term, 1957, to change her surname to Gould. Hearing on said Petition will be heard in said Court on Mon- day, July 22, 1957, at 10 a. m. when and where all persons interested may appear. THOMAS E. ROBERTS, Attorney. Local Children Loved Ike Brace . Candy Patrons Grew Into Gas Customers Isaac L. Brace, Shavertown, will be buried this afternoon in New Cemetery, Center Moreland, Rev. Howard Harrison conducting ser- vices at 2 from the funeral home at 504 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming. Generations of high school young-, sters who were first his patrons for candy, and later for gas at his Atlantic filling station in central Shavertown, knew him affectionate- ly as Ike. He never failed in patience with them. His daughters-in-law say “He was the finest there was.” For twenty-eight years he opera- ted his station. This summer a grandson, Larry Newhart, is trying to fill the gap, but shortly it will pass from the Brace family, and another chapter of local history will be ended. \ Mr. Brace and his wife, the former Grace Patton, celebrated their Gold- en Wedding July 11, 1956. When she died of a heart attack at the luncheon table October 9, two days after Mr. Brace himself had return- ed from Nesbitt Hospital, he was so deeply grief stricken that he no longer wished to live. He died nine months to the day from the date of her death. Suffering from. recurrent heart trouble, he was admitted to Nesbitt Hospital on Monday, and died the following day. He served on the official board of Shavertown Methodist Church, and took an active part in the commun- ity, serving two terms as Republican Committeeman. He was a past mas- ter of Toby Creek Lodge, Trucks- ville. He was born in Center Moreland, son of the late Almon and Hattie Denmon Brace. ! Three sons survive: Henry, Bald- win, N. Y.; Winfield and Clyde, Shavertown; two daughters: Mrs. Howard Ross, Vestal, N. Y., and Mrs. Lawrence Newhart, Shaver- town; a brother Howard, Deland, Fla.; three sisters: Mrs. Stella Dy- mond, Lockville; Mrs. Ruth Martin and Mrs. Myrtle Welch, both of Shavertown; seven grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. to 30, per capita tax from $5 to $7.50, and instead of having a $10,000 surplus, the district now has a deficit of $1,768, certified by a public accountant. / ‘A motion to bring up at the Aug- ust meeting the immediate release of Monroe, failed to pass. A motion to bring up the matter at an adjourned meeting, at call of the chairman, Francis Ambrose, passed. Monroe, if it is to be re- leased before the date of July 1, 1958, mentioned in the action of May 13, 1957, must know where it stands because of arrangements to be made at Tunkhannock and Dallas Areas. Mr. Ambrose pointed out that im- mediate withdrawal of Monroe would ease the classroom situation of Dallas Area Schools. Arrange- ments at Beaumont would be Tunk- hannock’s headache. .
