William Prater
To Teach Again
Made Enviable Track
Record In U.S. Army
William Prater, who taught at
schools for three years before enter-
ing the army in 1954, will return
to Township schools this fall. He
will teach English, as in the past,
replacing Joseph Evan of Plymouth,
who substituted for him in his ab-
position in Plymouth.
Mr. Prater, son of Mr. and Mrs.
George Prater, Fernbrook, is a grad-
uate of East Stroudsburg State
Teachers College. He attended Dal-
las Township, transferred to King-
ston Township High School, and
graduated in 1946.
During his months in the service,
he hung up an enviable record in
track, taking part June 3 to 5 in
the All Army Track Meet at Fort
MacArthur in California, after par-
ticipating in the final AAU meets
in Hawaii as representative of the
Twenty-Fifth Division.

Issue Statement
On Kindergarten
Only Limited Number
Can Be Enrolled
Parents interested in Kindergar-
ten instruction please note, the ad-
ministration of Dallas Area Schools
has issued the following announce-
ment.
Dallas, Franklin and Monroe
Township Boards have expressed
their willingness to assume the in-
structional cost of pupils from these
townships attending the Kindergar-
ten at Dallas Borough.
Boards, however, do not feel that
they can assume responsibility for
transportation to Kindergarten at
this time. Parents interested in en-
rolling their children for Kinder-
garten are asked to contact the
office in the Dallas-Franklin Build-
ing. Those parents who have al-
ready enrolled their children at
Dallas Borough need make no fur-
ther contacts.
The school administration is de-
termining the total number of peo-
ple who are interested in having
their children attend Kindergarten.
One reservation must be made in
this arrangement. The number of
pupils who can be accepted from
Dallas, Franklin and Monroe Town-
ships is limited. :
Quotas will be determined for
each Township. Children will be
considered in order of registration,
if these quotas are filled.
Children to be eligible for Kinder-
garten attendance must reach their
fifth birthday before February 1,
1957. Their Birth Certificate and
Vaccination Certificate must be pre-
sented at time of registration.

Help New Teacher
Get Off to Good,
Start in Her Job
Now that some schoo] systems
have as high as 30 percent of:
itheir staff new to their jobs each!
year, the American Association’
of School Administrators, has
[published a little booklet of sug-
igestions on how to get the new
Teacher off to a good start.
Though primarily intended:
for school administrators, the;
booklet also points out that par-
ents and all citizens have a,
stake in the objective. Knowing
that parents are interested in
their work and stand ready to
‘help, the booklet points out, is;
a source of encouraging satis-'
faction to the new teacher.
Many authorities in the field;
‘urge parents to become friendly,
with teachers, volunteer help in
special activities, and to partici-
pate in civic functions aimed at;
improving the stature of, and!
respect for teachers.
