FRIDAY, APRIL 6, 1956 American Cancer Society's 1956 educational and fund-raising crusade for $3,500 in the Dallas and Back week with Mrs. Thomas B. Robinson directing. a large group of volun- teers. ? The local goal is part of the $50,- 000 quota which is being raised in Luzerne County and $26,000,000 throughout the nation. More than 2,000 volunteers have offered their services in the county to join in the the Nation’s No. 2 killer. Mrs. Robinson said she was con- fident the quota in the Back Moun- tain. area would be reached. Last year residents here contributed $3,- 152.00 to the cause of cancer re- search, service to patients and edu- cation of the public. During the month every adult resident will be asked to strike a double blow at cancer—with a checkup and a check—the local campaign chairman said. The annual ACS crusade has a double objective which includes, be- side fund-raising, far-reaching pub- lic education about cancer, Mrs. Rob- inson said. This is a life-saving pro- gram which helps to save as many as 80,000 lives a year from cancer. Nelson. Sweet Valley: Mrs. Ord Trum- bower. Jackson Township: Mrs. F. H. Rogers.
