eo Ff ——— Stationed In Japan Clayton Cairl Slated For Promotion To Captain Shortly First Lt. Clayton L. Cairl, United States Air Force, son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Cairl, 9 Woodlawn Avenue, Dallas, has recently re- ceived the rating of Senior Pilot in the United States Air Force. To be- come eligible for this rating, a pilot must have seven years on flying status and a minimum of 2,000 hours flying time. In addition he must pass both written and flying proficiency tests. Lt. Cairl is presently assigned to the 6091st Reconnaissance Squadron Yokota Air Base, Japan, where he is an Aircraft Commander and As- sistant Combat Operations Officer. His wife Dolores (Douglas) and chil- dren Lee Douglas, age 6 and De- borah Marie age 4, are residing in Japan with him. x A graduate of Dallas Borough High in 1943, Lt. Cairl received his wings in December 1944 at Napier Field, Alabama. He is the holder of the ‘American Campaign Ribbon, the Air Force Reserve Officer Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Na- tional Defense Service Ribbon, Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Ribbon and the Oak Leaf Cluster. Lt, 'Cairl, slated for promotion to captain this month, arrived in Japan in October of 1953 after serving at Fairchild Air Force Base in Wash- ington. He is a member of the Air Force Association, Aircraft Owners Maintenance Officer for the Yokota Air Base Flying Club. Idetown Mrs. James Hodge who has been spending some time with her moth- er, Mrs. Claire McKenna, left Mon- day with her husband for Norfolk, Va. Jim has been transferred from Newport, R. I. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Parrish, of Kingston, Mrs. Della Parrish and Bess Cooke, were recent callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Knapp at Chinchilla, and at' the home of Mrs. John Cadugan, Scran- ton. The ‘beautiful vase of roses in the church pulpit Sunday morning was given by the family of the late E. R. Parrish in his memory. Welcomed into the church at the Sunday service were Glenda and Gloria Lyons, Linda and Evelyn Jennings, Janice Rinken, Nancy and Doris Jean Casterline, Patricia (Swan, Dale Titus, Billy Williams, Glenn Ide, Sharon Spencer, Phyllis Burch- ard, Linda Swelgin, Dale and Don- ald Anesi, and Robert Weaver. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kitchen of Washington, D. C., were recent cal- lers on Mrs. Walter Kitchen and other relatives here. : Mrs. Donald Watson and infant son, Jeffery, returned to their home from Nesbitt Hospital recently. Jef- fery was born February 28. The Watsons have two other sons, Don- ald Jr. and Jimmy. : Harveys Lake Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, Jr, of Lewistown, were recent visitors here. Mr. and Mrs. Lee 'Shepperson and daughter, Peggy, of Danville, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Higgins. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kitchen, of Washington, D. C., visited Mr. and Mrs. Garvin [Smith on Friday. The Country Fair, which was held at Lake-Noxen High School on Fri- day evening was a very successful affair. Many people turned out for a delicious ham supper at 5:30, and then enjoyed an evening of fun, mid balloons, sawdust, confetti and noise.
