Lumber & Coal Co. “The best time to stand up to any of life’s situations is immed- iately after you get up from pray- ing on your knees.” Le: WWRITTEN AND EDITED BY “BOB” BACHMAN Vv spend his winters in the Back Mountain is making a big mis- take. Without doubt we can boast of the best fed birds in any community. / Our jolly Santa Claus looked up from a child he was. talking to last Friday night and spot- “ted Shel Evans and his wife in the crowd. Santa Claus yelled to Shel and asked him what he wanted for Christmas. Never at a loss for a comeback, Shel said, “I want my taxes reduc- ed!” Now do you suppose that Shel knows who our Santa Claus is? We almost had a casualty last week at Shavertown. lady came in the store with her little boy and, efter a short time, no little boy could be found. We rushed outside and couldn’t find him, he wasn’t in Toyland on the second floor. When we were about to get Officer Updyke on the job someone spotted junior in the front window trying to ride the merry-go-round that was being used to display some dolls. Lots of persuasion and a lollipop finally did the trick and things again returned to normal. The boys and girls at The Dallas Hardware went me to remind you folks that they have a swell Gift Bar set-up also. Lovely gift items for all occasions from 59¢ up. Have you ever done any bundling? If you haven't it's not too late to start and we have just what you need . . . a genuine Pennsylvania Dutch Bundling Lamp that just throws the right amount of light. This beautiful little lamp, an authentic milk glass repro- duction is not only a conversa- tion piece but has practical value as well. It burns kero- sene when your electric power fails. For only $5.98 you can get a good start on bundling. Look at the 4-piece Pyrex, pink color Bowl Set at The Dallas Hardware, it’s as pretty a set as we've seen and should please any housewife for Christ- mas. Don’t know what the gang at the Shavertown store would do if it weren’t for the services of Herbie Young. He can al- ways be depended on to arrive at the store in time to take orders for the ‘coffee break”. He plans the order with Alice Stevens across the street and always comes back with just what’s needed to pep up every- one. This errand-running job of Herbie’s is his contribution to business in Shavertown and should not be taken lightly. Mr. Sowden was explaining to a customer that the “Ginny” doll sold for such a reasonable price because, “it isn’t the in- itial cost, it’s the upkeep.” Ginny has many costumes that can be added to her wardrobe from time to time. She’s just like any other doll that we fellows get hooked up with . . . you can marry them with only $10.00 in your pocket but, oh boy, the upkeep afterward. “Ginny’s” worth it though! To spark up your Christmas table setting, or your mantle, you must see the Dancing Christmas Angels, made of china with handpainted faces. T5c each or a set of four for $2.98. We've got a good sale item: that will make a swell Christ- mas present. A 4-piece wooden cannister set, hand decorated with a sparkling rooster for only $5.95. Also matching snack server and bread board. Don’t forget to mention any little item you can think of that would make good reading in this column and get a free gift certificate. Tell the folks waiting on you at either of our stores or call Bob Bachman at The Dallas Post.
