Annual Dinner
Seventy-Six Enjoy
Fifth Jackson Affair
‘Fifth annual dinner of Jackson
Fire Department and its Ladies’
Auxiliary was held Tuesday night
at the Fire Hall with seventy-six
persons attending.
The baked ham dinner was pre-
pared by WSCS of Huntsville Meth-
odist Chureh.
Invocation was by Rev. Roy
Bean, pastor of Huntsville Method-
ist Church. Rita Morris of Wilkes-
Barre gave several readings and
Bert Fennell of Trucksville enter-
tained with stories. The evening
came to a close with two motion
pictures.
Members of the dinner commit-
tee were: Margaret Bonning, chair-
man, Mary Laskowski and Evelyn
Wilcox. In charge of arrangements
were: Paul Snyder, Wesley Lamo-
reaux and Wesley Lashford who
was general chairman.

ing match on the Lehman floor
Thursday night. Coughlin won 29
to 20.
In the 95-pound class, Jordan of
Coughlin pinned Coburn of Leh-
man in one minute, fifty-seven
seconds.
In the 103-pound class, Schultz
of Lehman pinned McCaffery of
Coughlin in six minutes, fifteen sec-
onds.
In the 112-pound class, Polachek
of Coughlin decisioned Shilling of
Lehman in twelve points to four.
In the 120-pound class, Corley of
man seven to two. This was an
exhibition bout which did not count
in the final scoring.
In the 127-pound class, Kern of
Lehman pinned Serafin of Coughlin
in six minutes, fifteen seconds.
In. the 133-pound class, Spencer
of Lehman ‘pinned D. Yudisky of
Coughlin in five minutes, thirty
seconds.

Mrs. Joseph Monko has returned
to her home on Maple Street, Sha-
vertown, after being a patient at
the General Hospital, where she
submitted to an operation.
Gerald Miller, Druid Hills, Sha-
vertown, is a patient in the Nes-
bittt Hospital.
Mrs. Lincoln Hoover and son,
Jackie, of New Jersey, spent the
weekend with her parenlts, Mr. and
Mrs. Wesley Belles, Elm Terrace,
Trucksville,
Mrs. Nora Hall, [Sunset Avenue,
Shavertown, is a patient in the
Nesbitt Hospital suffering from a
splintered ankle bone. Injured as
she was walking down Maple
Street on her way to work at the
hospital.

Road, Trucksville is ill at his home.
Ann Hall, daughter of Mr. and

Mr. ‘and Mrs. Harry Edwards, Mr.
and Mrs. Bud Nelson, Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis Reese.
Mrs, Bruce Davies is in charge
of the dining room assisted by Mes-
dames Harry Lefko, Fay Hopkins,
Percy Love, Lewis Reese, Bud Nel-
son, Don Bulford, Robert Brown,
Regionel Bestwick, Stephen Sedler
and Robert Williams.

Hanford L. Eckman, son of Mr.

Friday morning and left for Farm-
ingdale, L.I. with his wife almost
immediat="v. The couple expect to
be sent to Denmark, Holland, or
France within two weeks, to spend

He's In The Army Now
At Fort Leonard Wood
Kenneth Eckman, up until the
past two weeks general factotum
around the Dallas Post office, was
tapped for the army, and after
spending several days at Fort |
Meade, left Monday morning at 4,
enroute to Fort Leonard Wood,
Missouri, where he will train for the
tank corps. His parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Hanford A. Eckman, Hunts- |
ville, phoned him Sunday night to |
tell him goodbye. Ken says he’s
glad it isn’t the infantry.
