« SANDS’ HOLSTEINS TAKE TOP PRIZES AT BLOOMSBURG FAIR Top honors among eighty-nine® exhibitors in the Holstein cattle show at Bloomsburg Fair were taken by Sands Farm Dairy of (Carverton, owned by Ralph Sands, For the third straight year the Sands Dairy was awarded first prize for the best Dairy Herd, four cows in milk, Included among the twenty-two ribbons taken by the Sands exhibit of fourteen head of Holsteins was first prize aged cow, Mollie Belle Lyons, who took Senior antl Grand Champion female of the show. This cow has just completed a record of 818 pounds of butterfat and 19,542 pounds; of milk. Among the ribbons won by the herd were four firsts; five seconds; one third; six fourths; three fifths; two sixths and one seventh. Among the firsts were best two-year old: best aged cow; exhibitor’s herd and dairy hend. Second prize senior yearling bull exhibited by Hillside Farms, Trucks- ville, went to Sandsdale Ragapple Commando, recently sold to Hillside by Sands Farm Dairy. This animal exhibited with his sister from the [Sandsdale herd took second prize produce of dam. In conjunction, with Hillside Farms, J. A. and W, D. Fairchild of Berwick and [Sands Farm Dairy, Luzenne County won first place for the best county herd. On Wednesday night of the Fair, sixty exhibitors attended the ‘Stock- man’s Dinner at Bloomsburg Elks’ Club.
