Hail Did No Damage
To Late Strawberries
When Mrs. Fred Updyke called
the Dallas Post to place a classified
advertisement for strawberry pick-
ers on Monday, she said that recent
hail storms had not damaged the
strawberry crop much, but that
hail .week before last had done
serious harm to tomatoes, in some
cases being driven right through the
fruit. Farmers in some areas re-
ported jagged chunks of ice, but
the hail was smaller in Pikes Creek.

THE POST, FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 1952
Dallas Entertains
Important Personage
BY WILLIAM L. AMOS
Mr. and Mrs. Watson B. Miller of
Washington were weekend guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Amos at their
place on Demunds Road. Mr. Miller,
former Administrator of the Federal
Security Agency, who was succeeded
by the present incumbent, Oscar
Ewing, and later was Commissioner
of Immigration, was recently ap-
pointed by the President and con-
firmed by the Senate as a member
of the Subversive Activities Con-
trol Board,
The board was set up under the
Internal Security Act to determine
whether Communist-front organiza-
‘tions must register with the |Govern-
ment. The board is. now holding
hearings to force the [Communist
Party to register.
Mr, Miller was much impressed
with the beauty of the scenery and
prosperous appearance of home in
the area. He predicted an era of
substantial residential and business
expansion for the Back Mountain
country, and said he felt that the
area would become a famous and
much patronized health and plea-
sure resort.
The Millers expect to return soon
for a longer visit, to enjoy the charm
and gracious living of a community
they have come to love.
