L. Flick, Commanding Officer, Troop *“B”, Pennsylvania State Police, Wyoming, that a vigil- ant check will be made this year to prevent the sale of any illegal fire- works, and prosecution will be made in’ all cases coming to the attention of the State Police. , “The law defines illegal fireworks as any article using or containing any combustible or explosive sub- stance prepared for the purpose of producing a visible or audible effect by combustion or explosion. It spec- ifically names blank cartridges, tor- pedoes, skyrockets, Roman candles, Daygio bombs, sparklers, or fire- works of like construction except caps, which may be lawfully sold. “All persons are forbidden to of- fer or expose for sale or use or ex- plode any fireworks. Provision’ is made, however, that the governing body of any municipality may grant permits for supervised public dis- plays, so located, in the opinion of Chief of the Fire Department, ‘that it shall not be hazardous to pro- perty or daimgerous to persons, The license of such display is required to furnish bond of $500.00 for in- jury to persons or property as &a re- sult of the display. Under this ex- emption a resident wholesaler, deal- er, or jobber , may sell fireworks to a person holding a permit for a fireworks display. “Violation of the law is a mis- demeanor and the Sheriff, Police or Constables, are authorized to seize and remove all stocks of fireworks offered for sale or held in violation of the Act.” Very truly yours, A, L.
