To Talk To Book Club J. PHILLIP RICHARDS J. Phillip Richars, local artist, will be guest speaker at the Back Moun- tain Memorial Library Book [Club on ‘Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. in the . Library Annex. Mr. Richards, a graduate of Syra- cuse University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity as well as the various Art groups, is a member of the Scranton ‘Artists group and was recently re-elected to serve a second term on the board of directors of the Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre. Equally adept with oils or water colors Mr. Richards has exhibited locally at the Hotel Prince, Tunk- hannock; Forest Tnn, Eaglesmere; Ward's Restaurant, Wilkes-Barre and the Inin at Buck Hill Falls as well as the National Academy and Town Hall, New York; the Barn Gallery, Ogunquit, Maine; paid Gim- bels’, Philadelphia. He is particularly known for his seascapes and New England scenes painted during his summer sojourn: at Ogunquit where for many years this prolific artist has done some of his finest work. Book club members and their guests are indeed in, for a rare treat as Mr. Richards, besides being an artist is a very talented actor hav- ing appeared with the Little Theatre in many hit shows. Prohibition Speaker JOHN LAMEY | John Lamey, Winona Lake, Indi- ana, chairman of the Indiana Pro- hibition, Committee, will speak in several churches in the Back Moun- tain area during his tour of Luzerne County. Mr. Lamey will speak about the liquor problem in the Free Methodist Church, Dallas, at 2:30 p.m. on June 15; at 8:00 on the same day in the Bowmans Creek [Free Methodist Church, and on June 18 at 7:45 p.m. in Sweet Valley Christ- ian Church. A former alcoholic, Mr. Lamey is able to impart factual information and draw examples from his own personal experiences. Before enter- ing prohibition work, he was for three years assistant to the Presi- dent of Taylor University at Upland, Indiana.
