Married Forty Years
3
Atty, and Mrs. Burt B. Lewis,
Woodlawn Drive, will [celebrate
their fortieth wedding amniversary
Tuesay, May 6.
Mrs. Lewis is the former Elizabeth
Ridgeway, daughter of the late Mr,
and Mrs. Edward Ridgeway of Wyo-
ming, Atty. Lewis is son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. George Lewis of West
Pittston. His dad was a merchant.
The couple was married by the
Rev. James Benninger, an old family
friend, in his parsonage at Scranton
Md., where Atty. Lewis, though a
graduate of Dickinson Law School
and already a member of the bar,
was principal of the High School.
When Mrs. Lewis became home
sick, five years after their marriage,
the Lewises moved back to West
Pittston where Mr. Lewis taught for
three years before opening his law
office in Pittston in, 1919. Tn 1932 he
moved his office to Miners Bank
and later to his home in Dallas.
The Lewises have two sons, Bob,
office manager for L. L. Richard-
son, whose family they have man-
aged to keep right next door so that
they ican enjoy eight year old
Bonnie Gayle, and George, head of
the mathematics department at
Clarion State. Teachers College.
George who will get his Ph. D. |
shontly was one of five educators
selected to evaluate mathematics
text books for use throughout the
state, a nice vote of confidence.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Lewis are
members ©of the Dallas Methodist
Church where Mrs. Lewis acts as
secretary for both the J.AB. (Class
and the W.S.CIS. Mr. Lewis who
filled in as teacher of the Brace
Bible (Class at the death of Prof.
Brace and still pinch hits sometimes
for Prof. James, explains with a
sly wink, that he doesn’t teach [Sun-
day School regularly because ‘law-
yers are wicked people”. A member
of the Bar ‘Association, he is Bor-
ough solicitor, solicitor for the Rural
Building and Loan and for the First
National Bank. Vitally interested in
anything Back Mountain, he has
searched titles gratis for the Library
and has always been gracious about
doing law work for community or-
ganizations as his contribution.
When asked what his hiobbies and
interests were, 'Atty. Lewis happily
grinned, “My kids! and I'm mighty
proud of them.” : y
Because of Mrs. Lewis's recent ill-
nes, the couple will spend Tuesday
quietly with their families and
celebrate their anniversary later on.
Friends and neighbors wish to ex-
tend their congratulations and hope
they”ll spend many many more
happy years together.

Therese Kozich Breaks
Right Hand In Fall
Eight year old Therese Koazich,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael
Kozich, proudly carries her right
arm in a sling and can’t write her
lessons in school, because of a frac-
ture of the hand received a week
ago Friday when she fell at her
home in East Dallas.
She and her sister Frances, aged
twelve, were jumping over some
piled up boards when the calamity
happened. X-Rays at Nesbitt Hos-
pital revealed the fracture.
