A Pint Of Life To Save A Life Bloodmobile To Serve Greater Dallas Nov. 2 By Mrs. T. M. B. Hicks Will it hurt? That is the fear- ful question most often raised when asked for a blood donation. The answer is NO. When a Red Cross operative from the Blood- mobile makes the small puncture in the arm, she first uses a local anaesthetic. The only sensation is that of slight pressure. The Bloodmobile sent from Red Cross Headquarters to Dallas, No- vember 2, for Back Mountain Blood-Donor Day, will be as well equipped and staffed as the Blood Center on South Franklin street. The routine includes a test for red blood cell content, a temper- ature reading, a questionnaire to determine past and present health. Arrangements are just as private as at the Center, with curtains hung from movable frames. Donors lie flat on a stretcher while the vacuum container is drawing the blood, continue to lie flat for a few minutes more, sit on the edge of the stretcher for another short period, and go to the canteen for a cup of coffee and a sandwich. As simple as that. i NN ERE » i Public spirited chants, as an expression of godwill, want you to receive this lovely basket of gifts if you have just moved to the area, become engaged, are a local mer- New Mother, have just moved to a new address within the area. E. C. Marianelli, Atty. The pint of blood that each Back Mountain resident lends to the Blood Bank will save somebody's life. Maybe in Korea, maybe on the home-front. Maybe somebody else’s life, maybe his own. A pint of blood is like money in the bank, on hand for instant use. Blood donation is the simplest known method of saving a life, not so dramatic as dashing into a burning building to resuce a child, or breasting the waves to save the drowning, but equally effective. Almost anybody can spare one hour of time and one pint of life.
