1 i i | PAGE SIX Trucksville Fire Company Adds 140 New Members To Its Rolls More than 140 new names were added to the active membership roll of the\ Trucksville Volunteer Fire Company during the recent membership drive. Community in- terest in the development of better protective facilities for Trucksville is increasing and plans are being made for an unusually active pro- gram in the coming year. At a meeting Friday night, the first since election of the new officers, Richard Reese, Hugh Rid- all and Clyde Haskins were ap- pointed as a committee to study and report on a revision of the company's by-laws. The recently elected officers for the coming year are: §S. D. Finney, president; E. W. Piatt, secretary; William Gregory, treasurer; William Lipfert, financial secretary; Francis McCarty, Chief; William Robbins Jr., 1st engineer; Herbert Jenkins, 2nd engineer; C. F. Haskins, Harold Yorks and Louis Roushey, trustees. Another of the monthly parties will be held at the Fire House June i Francis McCarty, 22. Special awards are being plan- ned which will be announced later. Because of the increasingly large attendance a more entertaining pro- gram is possible each time. August 17 and 18 have been sel- ected as the dates of the Summer Fair. President Finney was drafted by the members to again serve as chairman of the Fair Committee because his efforts in that capacity last year: were so successful. The complete committee will be an- nounced later. He brother, Louis who was recently re- leased from a prison camp in Ger- many. Pfc. Louis Banta, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Banta is spending a furlough with his wife and family. Pfc. Banta was wounded in Italy and is stationed in Wakefield Gen- eral Hospital, Wakefield, Ind.- The Bantas celebrated their eighth wed- ding anniversary May 31. They have one child, Diana. Mrs. Anna Shunk and children, spent the weekend in Luzerne with Mr. and Mrs. Michael Shunk. Eugene Banta Jr. has returned to Wilmington, Del., where he is employed on the railroad. Mrs. Joseph Pepsin and daughter, Susan have returned to New Jersey after visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Monroe. Her father, Private. Donald is now stationed in New Jersey. Mrs. Donald Reakes and two small children are spending some- time with her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Reakes. Sgt. Reakes is serving in Germany with the infantry. 0dd Fellows To Meet Monday Night, June 21 The monthly meeting of the I. O. O. F. Past Grands Association of Luzerne County will be held on Thursday evening, June 21, with Outalissa Encampment, No. 39, IL O. O. F, in Odd Fellows Temple, South Franklin street, Wilkes-Barre. All members of the Order are in- vited to attend. Members of the encampment are arranging for an excellent program. Albert Ditoro, president of the association, will preside. Subordinate lodges in the county are asked to see that their lodge is represented at the meet- ing. A brief business session will be held prior to the program of the evening.
