But it is a good way for me to catch up on my letter writing. As for what's going on in Kunkle, that's not much, because all you fel- lows being away sure makes the place dead. Bob Ashburner is home for a few days. Boy! The Navy sure made Bob put on the pounds. He certainly looks good, in fact, fifteen pounds better. ”. He is fine and still gets around as well as ever. You know, Shorty always did “Shorty” Hoover was just here and said to tell you fellows “hello get around pretty well. Ernest Martin and Ralphie Hoyt are getting their dogs warmed up for a good coon season. As for other hunting, it may not be so good as there are no shells on sale yet. I would be in pretty good shape myself, but last year, in fact the last day of the season, when my good pal, Glenn Kitchen, was home, we went hunting and he shot almost all my shells on two little rabbits, but that was all right, and I hope he can make it this year. Stan Hoyt was just home for fifteen days from the Alcan Highway. He likes the place where he is, only that it gets too cold up there. Everybody would like to hear from Al Hoyt. He is at sea and it has been some time since we heard from him. How about dropping us a line, Al. I would like to tell Claude Warden not to worry about Doris as she is here helping us for a few days and I'm keeping an eye on her for him. As for Karl Kunkle and Bud Mitchell, the Township has a good football team this year. They have won both games and it would be good to see both Karl and Bud back in the old game again. I'd like to take this opportunity to say “hello” to my brother-in-law, Jiggs Elston, who is in Cuba. Your Dad said he hopes you soon get home so you can do something with your goats. They have eaten his cabbage all up and nearly all the garden. And they keep increasing all the time. It's been some time since Harry Smith has been home, although he made up for it when he was closer home. Phil Ellsworth would like to have another pitch game, so here’s hoping for another furlough, Hal. We were all glad to see Bob Miler when he was home last week, altho’ he spent most of his time up at Noxen. We don’t blame you for that, Bob. Also, I'll say “hello” to Elwood Martin and Gilbert Boston, who are overseas. We sure appreciate those good letters Elwood and thanks a lot for the good picture. The ladies are helping you boys by making bandages every Monday night and everybody else is doing his bit by buying War Stamps and Bonds and everything he can do, so we can see all you fellows real soon. And for the rest of you fellows in the service, I wish you the best of luck and health, and hope to see you all back home as before. Sincerely yours, Fred Dodson.
