Army engineers are throwing ponton bridges across streams to carry the troops and equipment of | the fighting forces. This new ponton has been developed with turned up edges to give more stability to the ponton and to prevent capsizing. | Heavy tanks can pass over the bridges made of these pontons without fear that unequal distribution of the load will cause the pontons to turn over. They are longer than the original pontons used and the turned up ends add a greateal to the carrying capacity and to the | stability. They were engineered as the result of actual war time experience and are being built for the army by The General Tire &° Rubber Company. Entertains Officers Mrs. M. J.
