Mrs. Howard DeRemer
Gets $25 Baby Bond
Mrs. Howard L. DeRemer, of Dal-
las, is the lucky winner of a $25
United States Government Savings
Bond ‘awarded in the fifth week’s
$100,000 radio slogan contest, spon-
sored by a national soap company.
Names of five hundred other win-
ners from all over the United States
have also been made public. For
submitting the best twenty-five word
statements they will receive U. S.
Savings Bonds aggregating $16,000
maturity value. The prizes include
one $1,000 bond, twenty-five $100
bonds and 500 of the $25 denom-
ination.
To. date 2,630 of these bond
awards have been made by the
sponsors, who have been commend-
ed for their patriotism in selecting
Federal securities as prizes.
Residents from every state in the
union: as well as the Hawaiian Is-
lands have been among the lucky
winners. Thus far weekly grand
prize $1000 bonds have been award-
ed to Miss Constance Miller of New
York City; Mrs. Kathryn Klemme of
Tulsa; Mrs. Ada M. Boyer of Palm-
erton, Pa., and Mrs. J. D. McDon-
old of Clinton, Miss.

Spring Rally of the Dallas District
Epworth Leagues will be held Mon-
day evening, April 21, in the East
Dallas Methodist Church. Rev. Rob-
ert Coward, of Ashley, will be the
speaker. Miss Eleanor Stein will
give readings.

Members Will Compete
On April 18 the Dallas District
Epworth League play ‘tournament
will begin. Trucksville league is
entering “Aunt Harriet’s Night Out”
a one act play; East Dallas League
will present “Too Much of a Good
Time’ and Dallas League will give
“Father Arranges the ’ Wedding”,
Tournament dates are’ as follows:
April 18, Trucksville and Shaver-
townp Leagues at Shavertown
Church; on April 17, Dallas and
East Dallas Leagues at Huntsville
Christian Church; and Idetown, Al-
derson and Ruggles leagues on April |
24 in Idetown. The play-off will
be in the Laketon High School on
April 25.
The Silver Leaf Club met at the
Grange Hall recently for their regu-
lar meeting. Mrs. Ralph Hess was |
chairman, The second quilt was
completed for war relief. The club
wishes to thank Mrs. Charles Herd-
man for volunteering to. bind the
quilt. Present: Naomi Ashburner,
