St. Therese's Make Plans For Roast Beef Supper Members of the congregation of St. Therese’s church will hold their annual roast beef supper on Wed- nesday night from 5:30 to 8. Heads of Committees and more than 150 members of committees for the af- fair have been appointed. The sup- per is always a gala affair with hundreds of friends and members of the parish attending. Committee chairmen are: Supper, Mrs. Jacob Laux, tickets, Herman Sieber; games, Andrew Fisher; door, E. J. Staub; kitchen, Mrs. Jacob Gable. Fred Winter, who has been a pa- tient at the Nesbitt Hospital for several weeks due to an automobile accident, is much improved. Mr. and Mrs. James Davenport spent Sunday afternoon and even- ing with Mr. and Mrs. Laing Cool- baugh at Hillside. George Hufford of Towanda spent several days recently with Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Hufford. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rogers mo- tored to Endicott recently. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Foss spent Sunday as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cory Foss at Sweet Valley. A Hallowe'en party will be held in the church basement Monday evening at 7:30. Refreshments will be served. Those not masked will be fined. Miss Helen Weaver of Blooms- burg, who had charge of the Rally Day services at this place Sunday, spent the week-end with Miss Dor- othy Karshner. Russell May, pastor of Shavertown Metho- dist Church, presiding. The high school orchestra, direct- ed by Miss Dorothy Weaver, played several selections. A puppet show was given by players from the Lit- tle Theatre, illustrating the work of the Community Welfare Federation. Miss Ruth Howell, a member of the | high school faculty, spoke of the work of the Federation, also. Su- pervising Principal, J. A. Martin also spoke. Rev. Mr. May outlined a program calling for closer understanding be- tween parent and teacher. There were 25 teachers present and about the same number of parents. Bus Catches Fire A Dallas bus bound for Wilkes- Barre, caught on fire at Kingston Corners, Wednesday afternoon. Pa- trolman Joseph Salinsky saw the smoke and stopped the driver, who extinguished the flames with a hand extinguisher. Passengers were transferred to another bus. Mary MacDougall 5 Mourned At Beaumont” Mrs. Mary Francis” MacDougall, 65, beloved residefit of Beaumont, died early Wedhesday morning at her home. She had been ill since Sunday and her unexpected death was a severe blow to the many per- sons in this section who admired her greatly. A native of Wysox, Bradford County, Mrs. MacDougall came to Beaumont 36 years ago. Her hus- band died about 11 years ago and her oldest daughter, Mrs. Roberts of Edwardsville, June. Mrs. MacDougall is survived by a| daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth McGee of Washington, D. C., two sons, Rob- ert and Edward, both at home, and six grandchildren, The funeral will be held this af- ternoon (Friday) from the home with services in charge of Rev.
