His master claims that he knows nothing of the dog’s ancestry and that ag far as he is aware “Joe” is just plain dog, but a dog with an educa- tion. Some years ago Farmer Jones { picked “Joe” up at, a municipal dog pound where he was being detained until some one claimed or until the authorities could ‘painlessly put him out of the way. Since that time “Joe” has been the bread winner for the combination. According to Farmer Jones, “Joe” was quick to learn. All of his edu- cation was completed ‘in a period of about six months. That education in- cludes all kinds of tricks in addition to’ his ability to multiply, add and subtract any numbers up to ten. “Joe” goes through his mathematics lesson with ease.
