Louis, Mo., is shown after being freed on $2,000 bond. Wife of Amer= fean-born William Sentner, the admitted Communist union leader, she was charged with belonging to an organization which advocates overthrow of the U, S. Government by force. She is listed as a citizen of Yugoslavia, (International) PAGE NINE Will You Recognize the Services of Your Fighting Men? Recognition of the services of America’s fighting men after the close of every conflict is traditional in our country. George Washington was the first to aid our soldiers in adjusting themselves by providing grants of land. Down through the years after each war, the Federal Government and the several states have appropriately recognized that men who were taken from their normal pursuits and who served their country at small pay, were entitled to a special consideration, a consider- ation to help them regain or attain community security. What is proposed for Pennsylvania’s veterans of World War II is adjusted compensation —an adjustment of their pay with the pay of civilians whose earnings were far greater than the serviceman’s pay. Two successive sessions of our General Assembly voted unanimously to give World War II veterans adjusted service compensation. The voters must decide on Tuesday, November 8, if they shall reward with an average $325 nearly 1,300,000 men and women who were in uniform. Those men and women made possible our security, preserved our freedoms and the American way of life. If a “bonus” had been suggested for these men and women during the war, the favorable vote would have been overwhelming. If you would have voted yes then, you should remember how you felt with each victory, and vote “yes” November 8. On Tuesday, November 8, Vote “Yes” on AMENDMENT 1-A for Adjusted Service Compensation PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION NO. 1-A Shall Article nine of the Constitution of Pennsylvania be amended by add- ing a mew section authorizing the State to create additional bonded indebtedness to the amount of Five Hundred Million ($500,000,000) Dollars for payment of a bonus to veterans?
