Half of 60-25 Victory
The undefeated Patton High
School Panthers rolled to their
11th victory last Friday evening,
by drubbing Vintondale 60 to 25.
After the second-stringers gained
a 10 to 9 margin in the opening
period, Coach Pat Marquette put
his varsity on the floor and, it
proceeded to score 29 points in
the second frame while holding
the visitors scoreless.
That finished their activity for
the evening and the reserves re-
turned to gain 19 to 8 and 12 to
8 edges in the second half. Ten
of the 11 players used by Coach
Marquette helped in the scoring
with C. Litzinger’'s 11 points be-
ing high.
The Patton junior varsity scor-
ed a 26 to 10 victory in the pre-
liminary. The varsity summary:

The Patton Fraternal Bowling
League opened its third week of
the second half with a bang, as
the Slovak Club was drubbed out
by the Moose 4 to 0.
On Wednesday evening the
Legion Kegglers had to come
through to remain in the first
place berth, and with this in
mind, they walked off with a
smashing 4 to 0 score over the
Italian Club.
The V. F. W. five finally were
set back, contended with a 2 to 2
tie with the Eagles.
On Friday evening the Eagles
and Slovak Club battled in a
game postponed from the week

Dragons Lose to
Strong Cresson 5
Two good foul throws in the
last 30 seconds of play netted the
Cresson High School cage team a
30 to 28 win over the Barnesboro
Five, last Tuesday evening on
the Dragon's floor. It was a see-
saw game with the Indians gain-
ing the win by holding the Dra-
gon’s scoreless in the final quar-
ter.
After a 7 to 3 first period lead
Cresson rallied to go out in front
15 to 13 at the half time. Bar-
neshoro then regained the upper
hand 28 to 23 during the third
quarter but could not overcome
the 7 to 0 edge held by the
Indians in the final round.
The junior varsity preliminary
also was a hard fought game as
Cresson won 16 to 12. The var-

Barnesboro started strong tak-
ing the first quarter 10 to 7 but
the Eagles came back in the sec- |
ond quarter to take the lead 21]
to 20 at the half time.

Patton by scores of 14 to 8 and |
13 to 9.

Gallitzin High School downed
the Barnesboro High School last
Friday night on Gallitzin's floor
by the score of 57 to 50. It was
the fourth win for the Gallitzin
team in the Northern Cambria
League section and the fifth loss
for Barnesboro.
The visitors jumped off to a
first advantage of 18 to 10 but
the winners took the second per-
iod by an edge of 9 to 4 to lead
at the half time 22 to 19.
Gallitzin continued to hold the
upper hand in the second half by
taking a 15 to 10 margin in the
third quarter and a 23 to 18 edge
in the final setto.
Val Carmosino set a terrific
scoring pace for the winners with
28 points. Tenner paced Barnes-
boro with 15 points.
The foul line accuracy told the
story as each team ‘tallied 19
times from scrimmage. The home
forces hit on 19 of 32 charity
heaves, while the losers made 12
of 23. Gallitzin also took a 23 to
21 victory in the junior varsity
preliminary. The summary:

Building up a big first half
lead, Cresson High School breezed
to a 38 to 23 Northern Cambria
League victory over the visiting
s Lilly cagers last Friday night.
Coach Frank Lovich’'s Indians
took both the first and second
periods by 12 to 4 margins to
make a 24 to 8 advantage at the
half time.
It was Cresson’s fourth loop
victory against two losses and
Lilly's sixth defeat. Cresson for-
ward Joseph led the individual
scorers with 10 points.
Cresson also downed Lilly, 20
to 16 in a Northern Cambria
Junior High League game, which
was played as a preliminary. The

Gallitzin sank in points through
the hoop from all angles last
Tuesday evening to drub Ebens-
burg High School by the score of
64 t 53 on the winners’ floor.
The home team took an early
17 to 13 lead at the end of the
first period, and jumped that lead
to 38 to 24 at the half time. The
Ebensburg five fought back in
the third quarter to take a 16 to
12 edge, but Gallitzin regained
the whip hand with a 14 to 13
nod in the final quarter.
