Sometimes they welcome suggest- ions of an older sister who has learned from experience. Because girls begin young to choose their own clothes, they may as well be trained to choose wisely. To aid them in their se- lection, the following might be helpful. Though girls want to dress like the “gang” and want plenty of clothes, it is better to have fewer but better looking clothes than a lot of cheap garments. Sweaters and skirts form the bulk of the teen-age wardrobe but cheaper sweaters which are limp and sha- peless are definitely mistakes. If she is inclined to be on the heavy side, she can learn that the large design will only make her appear larger. The teen-age girl should remem- ber that patterned sweaters are worn with plain skirts. Plain swe- aters and either plaid, striped or plain skirts go together. A blazer, with or without a matching skirt, is a welcome ad- dition to the teen-age wardrobe. The blazer will team with a plain blouse or sweater and plaid skirt. Its matching skirt will go with a petterned sweater. The blazer and its matching skirt make an outfit that is a bit more dressy than the sweater and skirt. Dresses are chosen to double for dates, church or informal par- ties. The top coat is essential and the simpler it is the better for the young girl. The informal costumes of the teen-age girl call for only the simplest jewelry. Simple gold and silver chains look well with swe- aters and charm bracelets may be wern with school clothes. Lapel pins of metal, wood or yarn are popular and appropriate for the blazer of jacket outfits. (By R. June Kunkle, Home Ec- onomics Representative, Cambria Co. Agr. Ext. Asn.)
