Mrs. Anthony Fenello invited
the husbands of the members of
her pinochle club to accompan
their wives on their regular clu
night to celebrate the birthday of
Anthony Fenello. Prizes in pino-
chle were awarded to Yank Certo,
Frank Pallone, Mrs. Frank Pall-
one, Mrs. Frances Pallone, Mrs.
Sue Kutsar and Mrs. Charlotte
Fenello. Lunch was served and
nice gifts were received.

DELEGATION INTERVIEWS
SHIRT FACTORY HEADS
E. George, Frank Sunseri and
Domenic Certo were appointed as
representatives of the Spangler
Business Men's Association to
visit the Glen Campbell J. and C.|
Shirt Factory last week. They met
with representatives of the plant
to obtain information concerning
the construction of a factory in
Spangler. If the plant 1s decided
upon, -plans will be made, at a|
meeting in the near future, for a
temporary location until a perma-
nent building can be erected.
NEW OFFICERS ARE
NAMED BY CIVIC CLUB
At the regular meeting of the
Civic Club of Spangler, which was
held in the Firemen's Hall last
Friday evening, a record attend-
ance was reported. Plans were
discussed on a site for the new
factory, which is being anticipat-
ed.
Election of officers also took
place with the following being
chosen: Frank Sunseri replaced
Vince Hammond as president; E.
George replaced Frank Sunseri as
Vice President; Dr. Sakon replac-
ed Gordon Durbin as Secretary,
and John KEasly replaced Earl
Lantzy, as treasurer. Francis
“Chick” Falls was elected public-
ity chairman. The outgoing offi-
cers ars commended for their ex-
cellent work during the past year.

The American Legion Auxiliary
held their regular meeting Tues-
day evening last.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Butterbaugh
and daughter, Peggy, of Clymer,
were Sunday guests at the Mar-
tin Fry home. : :
Edward Conery of Detroit, Mich.
and a former resident of Spang-
ler, died on Monday, Dec. 9. He
was a brother of Mrs. John Eli-
ott.
Mr. and Mrs. Holmes Gray and
children, Jimmy, Tommy and Jack
were guests at a dinner to cele-
brate the third birthday of Earl
Parrish at the home of his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Par-
rish.
Paul Kirsch, Earl Lantzy, Max
Kirsch, Charley Glasser, Carl Lan-
tzy and Eddie Kirkpatrick were
on a hunting trip Saturday. Paul
Kirsch was the only one of the
group who killed a deer.
The following served on the
jury at Ebensburg last Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday: Ts.

NEW ASSISTANT RECTOR
ARRIVES IN TOWN
ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON
The Rev. Father Nicholas Lesko,
OSB, who has been serving as
assistant pastor at the Ligonier
charge, has been named as assist-
ant pastor of St. Benedict's Cath-
olic Church here and arrived in
Carrolltown late last Friday after-
noon.
Father Nicholas succeeds Rev.
Father Boniface Buerkle, OSB,
who is now serving at St. Nicho-
las’ Church, Nicktown, during the
illness of Rev. Father Bertrand
McFadyen, OSB, pastor. :
Father Nicholas was ordained
last June at the St. Vincent Arch-
abbey, Latrobe. Rev. Father Flav-
ian Yelinko, OSE, is pastor.
MR. HARRY E. BENDER
HAS 82ND ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Bede A. Bender
entertained a family gathering on
Sunday at their home in observ-
ance of the 82nd birthday anniver-
sary of Mr. Bender's father, Mr.
Harry E. Bender, who makes his
home with them.
Present at the affair were Mr.
and Mrs. Alvin Bender ana family
of Ebensburg, Mr. and Mrs. Arth-
ur O'Neil of Cresson and Mr. and

The Ladies Auxiliary of the
Carrolltown Fire Co. held their
Annual Christmas Party on Mon-
exchanged by the members, and a
covered dish luncheon was en-
joyed.
Mrs. Edward Miller, who has
been seriously ill for some months,
is slowly improving at her home.
A recital was given by the So-
dality Glee Club in The Parochial
School on Wednesday evening of
this week. The program was an
interesting one, and Christmas
Carols formed a portion of the
well-presented vocal program.
A meeting of the Parent-Teach-
ers Assn. was held in St. Bene-
dict’s Parochial School on Sunday
afternoon and was well attended.
An interesting program was ar-
ranged.
Mrs. Walter Swartz is seriously
ill at the Mercy Hospital, Johns-
town.
John (Spoof) Null of Baltimore
was a visitor among friends in
