Be Careful.
Fire underwriters are warning people
against flimsy Christmas decorations,
cotton and small candles on Christmas
trees, and It will be well for persons
carrying insurance to be on their guard
against their use.. Nearly all Insurance
po tcles carry policies that nullify con
tracts providing risks are run that may
endanger property, without permission
of the insurance people. To avoid
trouble the use of the very inflammable
stuff generally utilized for decorations
should be avoided. Not a year passes
that fires starting from Christmas trees
are not mentioned. ,

Noticeable Difference.
The Hrri. morning ol criminal court
at the county sea.t the gentlemen's
waiting room at the P. R. R. station at
this piac is fl led with men and there
Is also a thick cloud of tobacco smoke In
the mom, and on Monday morning of
this week the waltli g room was filled
with men mustly school teachers and
there was only one man in the crowd
that was smoking, and he was not a
school teacher. Noticeable difference
in the atmosphere of the court crowd
ard the teachers' Institute crowd.
There are a few school teachers that
smoke, but they are In the minority. A
school teacher should not only have the
ability to give his pupils instruction,
but should also set them a good exam
ple, and the teacher who smokes Is not
setting a good example.
