Arthur Tyson, who has been assistant secretary in the R. R. Y. M. C. A. In DuBois nine months, goes to Cleveland, Ohio, to-morrow to accept the same position in the R. R. Y. M. C. A. in that oity. Nineteen men, members of the Presbyterian church, who do not use tobacco in any way, have formed an association, for the purpose of buying flowers for the ornamentation of the church. Convention of the Jefferson County School Directors' Association is being held in Brookville two days this week Wednesday and Thursday. We have not given up the Idea of having the teachers' institute held in Reynolds ville. With our new modern opera house, which will be second to none in this section of the state, we could take care of the Institute nicely. This year the institute Is being held in the skat ing rink at Brookville. Found Small Bone Broken. George Hughes, who has been housed up several months with a lame knee, went to the Mercy Hospital In Pitts burgh yesterday to have his knee ex amined again under X-ray. A couple of weeks ago Mr. Hughes was at the Mercy Hospital and under the X-ray it was discovered that a small bone, just below the knee cap, had been broken. Tee knee was treated at that time and Is getting better, hut the doctor wanted to look at It again in two weeks, and hence the trip to Pitts burgh this week. Be Careful. Fire underwriters are warning people against flimsy Christmas decorations, cotton and small candles on Christmas trees, and It will be well for persons carrying insurance to be on their guard against their use.. Nearly all Insurance po tcles carry policies that nullify con tracts providing risks are run that may endanger property, without permission of the insurance people. To avoid trouble the use of the very inflammable stuff generally utilized for decorations should be avoided. Not a year passes that fires starting from Christmas trees are not mentioned. , Neuralgia of Heart Caused Death. Ren Sylvis, of . New Bethlehem, brother of Mrs. Charles B. Eisenhuth, of this place, died suddenly at his home Sunday afternoon, Dec. 19, 1909, from neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Sylvis, who was a strong, robust man, with bright hopes and prospects for long life, was only sick one hour. His death was a great shock to his relatives and friends. It was like a clap of thunder from a clear sky at noontide. Mr. Syl vis was 36 years old. He leaves a wife and two children. Funeral at New Bethlehem to-day.
