Tbe catalogue and premium list of the Brookvllle fair, which will be held September 14 to 17, Inclusive, has been received at THE Star office. New Sidewalks Ordered Built East End i Residents Ask to Have 'Phone For Fire Alarm Purposes. Tbe regular meeting of town counotl was held Tuesday evening, August 3rd, with following members present: J. V. Young, president, Jacob Deible, August Baldauf, Dr. J. C. King, David R. Cochran. Ex-Tax Collector Wm. Copping re ported having collected following taxes in month of July: $33.71 1907 tax and $132.06 1908 tax. Tax Collector S. J. Burgoon reported having collected $3G(i.94 taxes during July Chief Burgess Williams reported having collected $25.00 In fines and li censes during montb of July. Council was requested to have a tel ephone or some other means provided for giving alarm for fires in east end of town. Tbe matter was referred to tbe borough property committee to make a full Investigation, and also gave the committee power to act. Tbe street committee reported that several new sidewalks wero being put down, and just as soon as the time limit of notices expires, the sidewalks will be built by the borough whore people no tified to build have failed to do so. The burgeBS was Instructed to notify several people to build sidewalks. Bills amounting to $700.00 were paid. Child Killed By Trolley. Alexander, tbe three-year-old "son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Gilllotte, 'lvlng in the east end of town, was struck Jiy the DuB6is trolley due here at 7.15 Thurs day evening and was Instantly killed. The tot was following Its father, who had gone to a neighboring bouse, and was crawling up the embankment to the tracks when first seen by Motor man Smith, who applied tbe air and made a desperate effort to stop the car, which wbb then only a few feet from the child. Despite his efforts the car steps struck tha child on the side of of tbe head and when picked up It was found that Its neck had been broken and life was extinct. Medical aid was summoned, but was not needed. The little body was carried Into the home of its parents, directly in front of where tbe accident occurred, and a message was despatched to Coroner J. C. Sayers, of Reynoldsvllle, but he was away from home at tbe time, K seems to haye been an unavoidable accident and that the motorman did all in his power to avert It. consequently no blame can be placed upon him.
