7 Commencement at Villa Marie. From the Erie Evening Herald, which devoted considerable space to the recent commencement at the Villa Marie Academy of Erie, wo clip the following complimentary notices of Mies Mary A. McDonald, of Rnynulilavllle, who was one of the graduates in the Academy : "Miss M. A. Mac Donald sang the Angel's Serenade with sublime effi ct. She is the possessor of a remarkably sweet voice and Angs with an ease that is most pleasing. Miss Rita Colli: 8 played the violin obllguto anl Miss Cora WhiHlessy the piano accompani ment. The music was enchanting. The three young ladies showed remarkable skill and ability and their work not alone reflected credit upon them, but upon their teachers also." "Miss M. A. MacDonald and Miss J. L. Hanigan rendered Beethoven's Grand Septuor and notwithstanding the fact that the pianos were on opposite sides of the Btage the rendition of the difficult number wns so precise that it seemed as if but one piano was being played upon. The accomplished young ladies displayed brilliant technique. The music critics present were charm ed with the artiBtic playing of the gifted pianists and they showed their pleasure and appreciation with gener oub applause. Miss Hartigan and Miss MacDonald have finished the musical course and Villa Maria has reason to be proud of both pupils.'' At the conclusion of the commence ment exercises the large studio was thrown open and an inspection of the work of the pupils was made, and among the articles displayed and given mention in the Iltruld, were two by Miss Mc Donald, first china and second water color. "Mary MacDonald, Reynoldsville One-half dozen plates, conventional in roses, a table top, conventional in roses and raised paste work; special mention." "Mary MacDonald, Reynoldsville A crucifixion, five feet (special mention); conventional heads," Only 82 Years OM.
