1 urns 1TI0N 'VAGC4XATI0N LAW Health Commissioner Dixon An nounces Purpose to Begin Prosecutions. TO CALL DIRECTORS TO ACCOUNT ALSO Campaign of Education Has Aroused Anti-Vaccination-iststo Activity. THOUSANDS OF LETTERS TO BEAT DOWN PREJUDICE Answered By Flood of Literature From Hostile Sources; Good Work of the Newspapers. Harrlsburg, Feb. 27, 1906. Health Commissioner Samuel O. Dixon, acting for the State Depart ment of Health, will Immediately pros ecute a number of teachers lu differ ent parts of the State who have abso lutely refused to comply with the vac cination law and who in defiance ot this law are admitting unvaccinated children to their schools. The attorneys for the department have all their evidence in hand or a number of these cases. Dr. Dixon has also arranged to secure evidence In all other cases where the law has been violated. Will Prosecute Directors, Too. In addition to teachers, proceedings are to be taken against school direc tors and others who have conspired to have the law defied. The commissioner said today that every effort has been made to point out to the teachers their duty under the law. Ho has carried on i. vigorous campaign of education. Thousands of circulars setting forth the true facts In reference to vacclnatioa as a pro tection against smallpox have been sent out through every county In the State. Battling With Prejudice. He has written thousands of letters to teachers, school directors and par ents personally, endeavoring to over come the prejudice against vaccination and to counter-balance the effect of the literature circulated by the anti-vac-clnatlonlsts. This literature has been poured Into Pennsylvania not only from all parts of the United States, but from Eng land. The antl-vaccinationlsts of the world seem to have received word of the battle which Dr. Dixon Is waging against smallpox by vaccination and have combined to defeat his work. Newspaper Press a Strong Ally. "I cannot express too strongly," said the Health Commissioner today, "my appreciation of the support I have had from the public press throughout Pennsylvania in educating the parents of our school children to the necessity of protecting their little ones against smallpox. With very few exceptions the dally and weekly press of the State have editorially and through their news columns spoken In no un certain tones in behalf of vaccina tion. "I have been able to keep in touch with the effect of this newspaper in fluence and I know that prejudice haa been overcome by It; that In com munities where the anti-vacclnation-ists had sown abundant seed, they have failed to reap their harvest be cause of the splendid fight which the press haa made on behalf of public health.- DO IT TO-DAY! "And to think that ten months ago I lookcd'like this I I owe It to German Syrup." JThe time-worn injnnction, "Never put off 'til to-morrow what you can do to day," is now generally presented in this form : " Do it to-day I" That is the terse advice we want to give you about that hacking cough or demoralizing cold with which you have been struggling for' sev eral days, perhaps weeks. JTake some reliable remedy for it to-day and let that remedy be Dr. Boschee's German Syrup, which haa been in use for over thirty-five years. A few doses of it will undoubtedly relieve your cough or cold, and its continued use for a few days will cure you completely. JNo matter how deep-seated your cough, even if dread consumption has attacked your lungs, German Syrup will surely effect a cure as it has done before in thousands of ap parently hopeless cases of lung trouble. tJNew trial bottles, 35c; regular sixe, 75c.
