A great many peoplo have never learned the gentlo art of talking through a telephone, and porbaps never will. But it is very simple and ca9y. If you want to talk agreeably and pleas antly, place your lips within half an Inch of tho mouth of tho transmitter, and, If at close rango, speak in a slight ly lower tone thnn In ordinary conversa tion. If tho distance betwoon yoursolf and tho party with whom you are talk1 lng is great say a thousand miles raise your voico an octavo. But don't yell. Don't stand with your mouth six inches away and mutter, neither stick your mouth into tho transmitter and scream, but enunciate distinctly in a mortorato tone and koop your tranquili ty.
