Frum was tho recipient if a very
jiilnuble rocker and a purse youlaining
a sum of money. In tho e enieg the
young people gathered at the pnrsonupd
and spent a very profitable as well ps a
pleasant evening. Lunch wrs served to
about forty persons after which all re
paired to their homes.
A. W. Scott, formerly of this place,
who has extensive lumber operations at
Garee, was In town Monday night of
last week and registered at Hotel
Sykes. He was accompanied by his
daughter, Mrs. Garee. Mr. Scott was
on his way to Pittsburg via Indiana.
After spending a few days at Pittsburg
he will go to North Carolina where lie
is interested in the purchase of a large
tract of lumber land. Mr. Scott ex
pects to finish operations at Garee
about tho 15th of April and move his
mill south about the first of May.
The B., R. & P. railroad, assisted hy
the strong winds of last Saturday, under
took to establish rural free delivory.
As the 12:45 flyer passed through from
Pittsburg the mail agent threw the
mail sacks from the train and'for some
reason they bounded back under tho
wheels of tho train and were cut to
pieces, the wind taking up tho contents
and distributing them, we don't know
where. As a result we bad to do with
out the Pittsburg dailies'.
We notice several of our stores open
and doing business on last Sunday.
The practice of "open doors" with some
of our merchants on Sunday seoms to tig
to be one that we could and should 'dis
pense with. May a hint to the wise bo
sufficient.
Our supervisors are having a hard
time ol it trying to appease the wrath
of some of our citizens who seem to
think that tho public roads must be
kept clear of snow drifts at all hazards.
Charles Wolfgang, who hus been at
Ernest for the last year, moved to town
last Thursday. Ho has taken up his
residence in the Shaffer block on Main
street.
Levi Sehugars, one of the directors of
the Sykesvillo National Bank, hud
business in town last Thursday.
Frank Wolfgang, of Wishaw, spent
Sunday with his brother, Charles Wolf
gang. W. II. D'-omer is confined o his bed
with an attack of la grlppa.
