Forty Men are now Employed and when in Full Operation About Three Hundred Men will be Required. Much work has been done Already and Shipments made to Customers. Some of the Articles Manufactured. It is possible that a large number of our .citizens do not, fully realize and appreciate the fact that the plant being put in by the American Production Company, known as tho steel plant, will be tho best industry in Reynoldsvlllo when it is in full operation, as it will give employment to about :!00 men. Charles McSherry, general manager of the plant, an experienced and skilled mechanic, has been considerably handi capped in the construction of the plant or it would now be in full operation. The pattern shop, 2(1 x 75 feet, was tho first building completed. The foundry and machine shop, 75 x 216 feet, made of structural steel, was the second build ing completed and general office was next. The ornamental iron and sheet metal shop, of structural steel, is up and one-third of the roof on, but tho work of roofing hud to be suspended on account of bad weather. Mr. McSherry expects to have the entire plant in operation early in the spring. About forty men are now working at tho plant. In the foundry and machine shop is a twolve ton electric crane, which will be in operation UiIb week. On the north side of this building are the cupalo, storage rooms, dynamos and special machinery. In tho ornamental iron and sheet metal building, which is part ly under roof, is a large 500-horso power electric dynamo of the Westinghouse pattern. All the buildings now up are wired for electric lights and the others will be wired. The Pennsylvania and Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburg railroads will have sidings to the works, and by means of a turntable between the machine shop and the ornamental iron and sheet metal buildings cars can be run to either building to facilitate loading and unloading. Some of the articles that, will bo manufactured at this plant are : Labor saving machinery, grinding machinery of every kind, clay working machinery, metal pattorns and dies, iron and steel castings, brassand white metal castings, metal mine cars, ornamental iron and brass work, light structural work, light forcings and plato york, sheet metal novelties, exhaust heads and pipes, metallic skylights and windows, lcocans and filters, conductsrs and eave troughs, cement tile and roofing, ventilators, etc. McSherry's Patent Hercules Shears, one of tho articles manufactured by the Amoriean Production Co., are good sellers. A number are being shipped away this week, A car load of exhaust heads were shipped to Pittsburg this week from this steel plant. The company Is now ronnufuelurtng trusses for the Jefferson Traction Company's lurgo car barn to bo built near cornor of 'Jackson and Tenth streets. The first casting was dent.' at the plant last week. There were two cast ings of fifty hundred each. Among the castings wore car wheels. The first dividend was paid last week on shares of stock that had been paid in full. People who have not been over to see tho steel plant for several months, and those who have not been over at all, will likely be surprised at the magni tude of tho plant.
