Was Born in Scotland Died at Wish tw Heart Trouble Caused Death. Thomas Beatl ie, a good natured und kind hearted Scotchman who had re sided in tho neighborhood of Eleanora and WIhIiuw, near this place, thirteen years, died at his homo at Wlshaw at 11.00 p. m. Thursday, May 15, 1!H2, from heart trouble. Ho had been confined to bed three weeks before ho died. He was unconscious from fl.00 a. m. Wed nesday preceedlng his death until his spirit departed this life. Mr. Beattie was born In Scotland Fubruary 22, 184, and was over 44 years old at time of death. Ho camo to America when 14 years old. In 1878 he was married to Ellen Bakcwull who, with elovch children, survives him. IIo moved to Eleanora thirteen years ago and followed coal mining for a livlihood until a couple of years ago when on account of poor health he was compelled to abandon mining work and ho em barked In the grocery business at Wlshaw. Mr. Beattio was a jovial fellow, always bad a pleasant and kind word for eve ry body and consequently his friends were numerous. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodgo of Eleanora. Funeral service whs hold In the Cumber land Presbyterian church at Eleanora at2.00p. m. Saturday, conducted by Rov. H. T. Teagarden, Ph. D. The funeral was a very largo ono. Interment was made In the I. O. O. F. cemetery. Mr. Beattio was a loving husband and father and a kind neighbor. His wlfo, six daughters and five sons survive bim and they all live at Wlshaw. Two of the daughters are married, Mrs. Walter King and Mrs. David King.
