The Reynoldsvillo school board has elected Prof. John F. Bower, of Fredo nia, Pa., as assistant principal of our schools. Prof. Bower Ib a graduate of tho Allegheny College. At the name meeting Prof, Charles W. Dickey, of Baxter, was elected teacher of room 13 at a salary of $45.00 per month. ThlB Is an increaso of $5.00 per month for teaching In room 13. Prof. Dickey is also a college graduate. Ordained To-Night. A special meeting of the Clarion Pres bytery will be hold in tho Roynoldsvlllo Presbyterian church this afternoon and evening for the purpose of ordaining James and Alexander Waite, the twin brothers who are going to India to do missionary work. The examinations for ordination will be held In tho church at 2.30 p. m. and the ordination will take place this evening. It is expected that a number of preachers and elders will bo present. Fourth of July Accident. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Mohnoy, who live In Wlnslow township, were driving into town early on the morning of July 4th and when near Frank's Tavern a cannon fire cracker exploded In front of their horse, causing It to run off. Mr. and Mrs. Mohney were both thrown out of tho buggy and Injured. Mr. Mohney was badly cut on the forehead, right hip Injured and badly shaken up. It was first thought he was Injured Internally. Mrs. Mohney's left arm was broken. Their anticipated day of plensuro was turned into ono of sulToring for both of them. Ejecting Miners' Families. Sheriff Burns and thirty deputies have boon ejecting miners' families out of company houses at Big Soldlor and Eleanora tho past woek. Tho company served six days notice on tho tenants, according to an article of agreement signed when tho bouses were rented, and tho tlrao expired July 0th and the following morning the Sheriff and his doputles went Into the moving business. So far there has been no troublo, tho miners are poaoeubly al lowing the officers to move their goods out of the houses. Most all the families ejected huve found somo place to movo into. Mason-Davidson Nuptials. A pretty homo wedding occurred at the resldunco of James Davidson in this pluoo at four o'clock In tho afternoon of July 3rd. Robert Mason, son of Mr. and Irs. Walter Mason, und Miss Eliz abeth Davidson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Davidson, were the twain that entered the matrimonial state. Rev. W. Frank Reber, pastor of Pres byterian church, performed tho wed ding ooremony in the presence of 125 relatives und friends. After congratu lations and good wishes an excellent Biippor was served. Mr. and Mrs. Mason reoeived a number of presents. This young couple start out in life with bright prospects before them. "Dub" Won the Came. The Reynoldsviile ball team played the Punxsulawney team on tho fair grounds at Punxs'y In the forenoon of July 4th und got nothing but goosoeggs marked In their column of scores, while the Punxs'y boys got In nine runs. In the afternoon our team played the Brockwuyvillo team a five inning game on the grounds at this place und suc ceeded in defeuting the visitors by u good catch made by "Dub" Sharp. In the last half of tho fifth lust Inning the Brockwayvllle boys hud two men out und two men on buses when one of their hard hitters went to bat and knocked a fly out to tho foot walk. "Dub" had quite a run to raako to outch the bull, but he got there in time to cutch the bull, but fell us bo cuught It. He did not let the bull full to the ground, und he shut the visitors out of two runs und suved the game for our boys. It wus the best game of bull played here this season. The score was 3 2. Parades Monday. About one o'clock Monday afternoon between five and seven hundred men, women and boys from Eleanora and Big Soldier, striking miners and families, paraded fown Main street, headed by the Eleanora band, to Frank's Park. There wore numerous banners conspic uous In the parade, two of which were as follows: "God Bless Our Homes on the Highway," "What is Homo With out a Cover." Somo of the mon and women In the parade carried babies In their arms. District President Wm. B. Wilson, who was In town and mem bers of tho committee had to hustlo to get bread, butter, Ac, to feed the hungry paraders. They made them selves at home In Frank's Park and were a jolly und good natured crowd. About 3.00 p. m. a largo number of miners from Rathmel, bended by the Ruthmel bund, marched Into town and to Frank's Park where they remained several hours and then marched back to Rntbmel. President Wilson mado a speech to tho crowd In tho Park. Tho Eleanora delegation intended to stay in tho Park for supper and a committeo visited the business places In town and solicited money or eatables to furnish supper for them, but the Eleanora people decided to return home before supper and the committee returned tho money and provisions to tho persons who gave them. A largo numlwr of tho crowd from Eleanora drove to the outskirts of town In buggies, hacks and wagons and there formed in lino and marched into town. Died in Erie. Harry L. Marshall, aged 17 years, 11 months and 14 days, son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Marshall, of Rathmol, died In the St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, Pa., at 8.15 p. m., July 3rd. from typhoid fever. The young man had been In the hospi tal two weeks. Mr. Marshall went to Erie ton days before his son died and was at his bedside when the Death Angel called. Mr. Marshall purchased an alr-tlght copper lined casket and was thus enabled to bring his son homo for burial, arriving hero Tuesday afternoon. Wednesduy afternoon funeral services were held in tho Rathmel M. E. church, conducted by Revs. J. E. Dean and A. E. Hooper. It was a vory largo funeral. The young man was a member of the P. O. S. of A. and Sons of Temperance and both orders attended the funeral and had charge of the ceremonies at the residence of parents and at Prospect cemetery, where the Interment took place. About the first of May Harry Mar shall went to Albion, Pa., to get a rosition as fireman on tho Pittsburg fc lessemer railroad with his undo, S. R. Miles, who Is an engineer on that road. Harry was a bright young man and had many friends at Rathmel who felt deep grief when it was announced that ho had died. Democratic County Ticket. Tho Democrats of Jotforson county held their primary election on Saturday, July 1st, and on tho following Monday the county convention wus held in the court house at Brookvillo. County Chairman Samuel States called the convention to order at 1.00 p. m. G. M. McDonald, of Reynoldsvillo, waseleoted temporary chairman, and A. M. Arm strong, of Punxsutawnoy, W. E. Day ton, of Young, Roman E. Koch lor, of West Reynoldsvillo, and B. H. Whlto hlll, of Falls Creek, wore elected tem porary secretaries. Tho following tick et was nominated: Sheriff, vMath. Mohney, Reynolds villo; treasurer, A, C. Smith, Eldred township; register and recorder, D. J. Murphy, Brookvillo: county commis sioners, Al. Hawk, Brookvillo, and F. M. The chairman of the county commit tee, with tho advice and consent of the members of said committee, was author ized to name a candidate for prothono tary to fill out tho ticket, also to (ill any vacancy that might occur in the ticket from any cause whatever. Har man, a morchnnt in Ponfiold, killed Ezokiel Hewitt in his storo by hitting him on the bead with a weight he picked up from the counter. The men quarrelled ubout the delivery of some goods that Hewitt had ordered that morning. Mr. Hewitt was an old rest dent of Pentleld, futhor of Eurl Hewitt, ex-postmaster at Fulls Creek, und broth er of Mrs. W. J. Leahy of Falls Creek. The demonstration ut this place on the Fourth of July was up to the expec tations of tho citizens of Reynoldsvillo, and the visitors were well pleased. From early morn until dowey eve, evi dences of the outbursts of enthusiasm were manifested everywhere by the crowd that thronged the streets, in the antics of many of tho visitors, and In the muslo that so frequently filled tho air. Tho day dawned bright and beau tiful and very early in the morning vis itors began coming to town from all directions. Tho first thing on the of ficial progrnm was the parade, which was made up of brass bands, long lino of marching men from various lodges wearing regalias, Industrial displays and fantastic. A prize of $20.00 in gold was offered to tho out of town so ciety having largest number of members In parade. The K. of P. lodge of Hnth tnel got tho prize. The bicycle handicap race wus next. Fred. Kllno got first prize, $N.00, and Joseph Laverlek Bccond, $4.00. The 150 yard foot race was tho next raco, and In this race Reynolds Gibson got first prize, $j.oo, and Fred Bohron got second, $2.00. The fifty-yard potato raco at 1.15 p. m. was a "hot" contest. There were three prizes given in that raco. Thom as Grlx got first mizo, $7.00, Reynolds Gibson second. $3.00, and Isaac Hutson third. $3.00. Samuel Williams carried off first prize, $3.00, In the sack raco and Wal ter Watson second prize, $2.00. In tho wheelbarrow race John Smith and John Broad got first prize, $3.00, and Fred and Frank Bohren second prize, $2.00. In the three-legged raco Walter Watson and Will Frnzlor got first prlzo $3.00, and Frank Bohron and Reynolds Gibson got second prize, $2.00.
