Hurger, of Plnecroek township, died at 0.00 A. M. Monday, December, 20th, of cancer of tho womb. Mrs. Hargor has boon sick over two years. She Is survived by her husbund and eight children. John Dixon, of Prescottvlllo, brother of Georgo Dixon, who died a couplo of woeks ago from injuries received In tho Spraguo mlno, had a narrow escape from sudden death In the Spraguo mine last week. John was riding out of the mine on the rear end of a car of coal, leaning over on tho coal, and his hood was caught between a lump of coal and the roof of the mlno. His head was badly cut. It required eleven stitches to sow up tho wound. Had ho boon caught few Inches further back on the head, his friends would now bo mourning over his death. Tuberculins Test Made. Last month a cow owned by J. W Dompsoy, In West Roynoldsvlllo, died from tuberculosis. George Williams had two cows that wore pastured with Dompsoy's cow and drank from the same stream, and Mr. Williams fearing that there might be germs of the same disease In his cows, made application to State Veterinarian Pearson to have the tuberoullno test made on his cowb. Dr. F. F. Hoffman, veterinarian of Brook vllle, deputy under Dr. Pearson, re ceived orders from the State Depart ment to make the test, which he did last Friday but failed to find signs of tuberculosis In the animals. The state pays for such examinations. Will Get After Tanneries. The people of Falls Creek raised such a kick about the Elk Tanning Co. at that place polluting the creek with the refuse liquids emptied Into the stream, that Constable McKean, In his returns to the Jefferson county court last week, asserted that the tanning company was maintaining a nulsanoo, and that the pollution of the water was Injurious to health and comfort. The grand jury rendered a true bill.
