A Suspicious Act. On Tuesday uigbt, shortly before 12 o'clock, two strange men entered William Cancierius' saloon, on East Centre street, and ordoied two drinks. After drinking they sat down by the stove with the proprietor and began to talk of recent robberies. Sud denly one of the men said to Cancierius : "How would you like it If a burglar would draw a revolver, put it to your nose, and say 'Hands up !' What would you do?" At the same time the man pulled a revolver from his pocket. Tho proprietor rushed towards the stranger and his wife came downstairs with hatchet in hand. On seeing tho woman, the stranger made a rush for the door and escaped down Centro street His pal remained and asked for another dr'nk, but was refused. He then attempted to entice Cancierius to Justice Shoemaker's office, saying he haa three men arrested for robbery. It is supposed that soveral other pals were in waiting in Market alley to attack and rob Cancierius. Ho refused to go and the stranger left the place Deeds Recorded. Opposed to the Movement, All the Shenandoah merchants are opposed to the movement begun in Congress for the enactment of what is known as the parcels postlaw, by which it would bo possible for the big department Btores in the city to send large quantities of goods through the mails at mucli less cost than it would take to ship tbem by freight or express. The enactment of this law would rain the county merchants who are united in opposition to it.
