Doylo, one of the proprietors of tho Daily Nows, died last night after an illness of sovoral days following child birth. She was lu her 42nd year. The funeral will tako place from the family residence on West Coal street on Wednesday, 10th inst., at 10 a. m. High mass will be celebrated at tho Annunciation church and interment will be made in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Ann Irvin, aged 80 years, was found dead in a chair at her home in New Castle, near St. Clair, yesterday morning. A son and granddaughter survive. Tho deceased was the widow of Andrew Irvin, who was a stage driver between Pottsvllle and St. Clair many years ago. Tho funeral of Florence, two-year-old daughter of Frank and Bella Shoup, took placo yesterday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, from the family residence at S23 West Huckleberry alley. Woltjon and Robert Allison, who constitute tho local committco representing the State Board of Public Charities nud Com mittee on Lunacy, spent all of Saturday making a thorough inspection of the county almshouse and insane buildings nt Schuylkill Haven, The result of their observation Mr. Woltjon forwarded in reports to Stato Secre tary Cadwalador Biddlo, of the Board of Charities, and Dr. Wetheril, secretary of the Stato Committee on Lunacy. Tho reports embrace these facts : Numbor of Insane pationts, 112. Of this number 44 aro women, of whom 27 aro of foreign birth. Of tho OS men patients, 33 are foreigners. Thoro aro in tho ontiro Alms house institution 440 pationts, including 14 infants. Tho local members of tho Stato Board feund the Almshouso buildings in a very creditable condition. Thoy believo that the present Insane department could bo used for an infirmary. Tho old stono and framo buildings should be torn down. A separate building for tho insane, isolated from tho Almshouso proper, should bo put up on the other sldo of tho turnpiko. It should be provided with wards similar to those of hospital. The $15,000 for tho insane improvements, approved by the County Commissioners about the timo the now Almshouse hospital was finished, and afterward approved by tho Stato Board of Publie Charities, could bo woll expended for a new building for tho insane.
