Reading, Pa., May 1C Coroner Rotherraol last night announced his intention of beginning tho inquiry Into the causo of the wreck on the Philadel phia and Reading railway at Exeter on Monday next. He spent the greater portion of yesterday in Philadelphia subpoenaing witnesses and malting general inquires concerning the wreck. It Is said that the district attorney may nsslst in the investigation. The coro ner, while in Philadelphia, saw Harry Orrell, the engineer of the ill fated second section of tho wrecked train, and his fireman, Everett, and notified them to be present. It is said that United States Senator Penrose, who wns a passenger on the wrecked sec tion, will also be a witness. It Is the generally expressed opinion, although not from any official sourco, that the cause of tho accident was a misunderstanding or mistako as to sig nals. Train Dispatcher Rourke, it is said, ordered the tower man below Reading to turn the red light against the second section, and when the train came in sight to give him the green, or cautionary signal. This was obey ed, but Orrell, running slow, saw a white signal about a milo north of Exeter and put on high speed, which was tho fearful result of 29 killed and 50 Injured. All but seven of tho Injured have been discharged from the hospitals In this city. Although sovoral of those still in the hospitals are in a serious condition, it is believed by tho physi cians that they will recover. The In jured in the hospital at Norrlstown aro reported to be doing well, with the ex ception of Amandus Gorges, who Is still in a dangerous condition. Yellow Taundlce Cured. The rumors of nuwspaper changes con tinues to agitato tho couuty scat politicians. Somctiino ago it was stated that Robert Wilson, of Mt. Carmel, who recently disposed of his newspaper at that placo, had an option on tho Evening Chronicle, tho leading Demo cratic paper of tho couuty, und would assume chargo on the first of tho month, but up to the present tuno this rumor has not been verified. In fact, it is now stated by those interested that negotiations havo been sus pended and tbo deal is off, and tbo Chroniclo will continue as a Democratic organ under the present management. l'ottsville, bowover, is to havo another daily paper, provided negotiations with the Journal peoplo is fruitless. Messrs. Brumm, Whltohouseaud Schriuk, together with J. Harry James, of Ashland, and Robert Wil son, of Mt. Carmel, haved pooled their Issues and will establish an organ here. They havo been dickering with the proprietors (?) of that storm-tossed newspaper, the Miners' Journal, but havo about abandoned all hopes of securing control, inasmuch as it is almost an Impossibility to ascertain who owns tho plant. Maj. Finney, tho erstwhile manager, claims to have been buncoed out of his "right and title" by his former associates and threatens to mako troublo for somebody ; while, on tho other hand, tboso now in con trol make countercharges and claim they wero victims to tho tune of several thousand dollars, and insinuate that the Sub-Treasurer is no saint when It comes to "deals," which they now realize to their sorrow. Under these circumstances, it Is not sur prising that Brumm et. al. aro fighting shy of the Journal plant. Editor Wilson was here In consultation with his colleagues and It is now given out that the new Republican dally, for which a charter has been secured, will soon be established. The Ashlaud Local, now owned by J. Harry James and ltcgistor F. C. Reese, is to be moved to this town and furnish the nucleus for tho plant. And then the fir will lly. It will then be "Lay on Macbeth," etc. MARRIAGE LICENSES. Raymond G. Miller and Hattie Theobold, both of Ashland ; John J.
