Several thousand peoplo parnded to the Quinto do Ion Moliuos, where Gen eral Gomez resides. He made his np poaraucu and nddressed them, and the procession did not return until after nightfall. Archbishop dispone, the apostolic delegate to the West Indies, discussed with General llrooke yesterday the sit uation of the Roman Catholic church in Cuba. He asks nothing except that the church be allowed to retain its prop erty, jurisdiction and rights as a cor poration under the Spanish law. To this General Itrooke sees no objection, though thore are some titles In dispute that may have to come before the courts. The church will continue to control the ceme teries, and in cases where these have been taken by the municipalities the lat ter will be ordered to give them back, The archbishop realizes that a certain amount of distrust is felt regarding the church in Cuba, and he may suggest to Home some plnn to "Cubaniz the church, gradually recruiting the hier archy from the Cubans themselves and giving the local Spanish element less authority. Nnvnl Onicor Writes of American nnd Filipino Methods. London. March 10. The Daily Grnphlc publishes this morning n letter from a liritish naval o nicer in Manila describing the beginning of the fighting between the Americans nnd Filipinos, which ho says was due to nn attempt on tho part of the latter to rush an American post. "The British officers," he continues, "were not allowed to land until the day following the bnttle, and were even then prohibited from going to tho front, but on the battlefield 1 saw Filipino prisoners burying heaps of their dead. It cannot for a moment bo doubted that the Americans fought with gnl- lantry and pluck, while the rebel?, who were armed with Mausers and Iteming tons, maintained a stubborn defense. Their dead bodies testify to this. It is also clear that the Filipinos were as tounded mid demoralized by the Ameri can tactics nnd the vigorous pursuit the Americans kept up throughout the day, instead of following, as the Filipinos expected, the Spanish custom of midday rest." There Is a remedy that will so strengthen and build up woman's special organism, that she may withstand the strain of long hours upon her feet, and escape the maladies that would destroy her general health and nercapaDiuty as a wne ana motner. It is Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription. It builds up the muscles that support and strengthen the organs peculiar to the sex. It enables her to stand without feeling pulled down and without pain or extreme weari ness. It cures all womanly weakness and disease.
