Ac cording to tho story bo told Justice Shoe maker, ho was in the saloon when John Savolowskl entered nnd,.wltbout provocation or warning, cut tho victim with a knife. Tlio slash extended from the hair lino on the light side of tlio face, over tho cheek and half way across tho throat. Tho injured man rushed from tho saloon with blood streaming over his clothing. Ho walked first to Dr. Price's ollico on West Lloyd street, then to Dr. Hamilton's on North Jardin street, then retraced his steps and walked to Dr. Stein's ollico on East Centre street. Tho latter was In his olllce and took charge of the man. Heavy blotches of blood on tho pavements aud porches showed tho travels of tho victim nnd when ho reached Dr. Stein's olllce his face and clothing looked ns if some body had thrown a bucket of blood over them.
