FILLING UP THB REGIMENTS, The Shipment of Cavalry and Artillery Reg iments to Tampa Has Produced a Fever of Excitement Among the Soldiers, Who Hope to Be Sent Further South Soon. Chlckamaugu National Park, April 29. Major General Drooks yesterday received a telegram from the war de partment at Washington, ordering him to at once put the army In his com mand on a war footing, and authoriz ing him t enlist every eligible man until the regiments are filled. This will result In an Increased number of troops at Chtckamauga close to 25,000. Itccrulting has already begun. Judging from tho number of applica tions already received, it la believed that the different regiments at this point will soon be placed on a war foot ing. Especially is tills true of tho col ored regiments. The presence of these sable warriors has created the great est excitement among the colored peo ple of Chattanooga and the surround ing country, and every day the com manding ofllcors have been besieged by men anxious to enlist. Two companies of the Ninth (col ored) cavalry, which arrived In Chat tanooga late yesterday afternoon, were sPPed after having started to Chlck amagua and switched Into the Western and Atlantic yards. Orders had been received to have the troops proceed as rapidly as possible to Tampa, Fla., to which point troops from Mobile and New Orleans have also been ordered, and they left hero shortly after mid night. It Is now well known that the companies of the Ninth regiment in camp here will be shipped at once to Tampa, as well as the Twenty-fourth Infantry (colored). The movement of troops to Tampa is believed to embrace not only the colored troops, but all the artillery stationed hero as well. The shipment of the Ninth cavalry, following the sudden doparture yester day of the two batteries of artillery for Tampa, has produced a fever of ex cltement among the soldiers, who are hoping to be called upon next. Debris Carried in the Air Set Fire to One Building After Another, and All Were Destroyed, With Their Contents Dead Bodies Terribly Mangled. Easton, Pa., April 29. The town of Dovor, In Morris county, N. J., and the country within a radius of 20 mllei), was startled yesterday afternoon by a series of terrlllc explosions. The ex plosions occurred In the Atlantic Pow der company's works, and the plant is now a complete mass of ruins. Six workmen were killed and four others were seriously Injured, Borne probably fatally. The works are situated in an Isolated spot seven miles out In a rough coun try from Dover. There were ten build ings In the croup, and all have been destroyed. The first explosion occurred In one of the packing houses, caused, It Is thought, by a spark from the pipe of a careless smoker. The concussion set off the explosives to another pack ing house nearby. Debris and burning timbers of the wrecked buildings were carried hluh Into the air and fell In a showrr over the remaining buildings, setting fire to the main factory and the other five packing houses and thi two shell houses. In a brief time the explosives In these buildings were set off and left death nnd destruction In their wake. The works havo been run ning night and day, turning out hurry orders for the United States govern ment, and a large amount of ammuni tion ready for shipment was stored away in the packing houses. This, with all other explosives, was com pletely destroyed. The scene presented at the place was most horrible. People who felt thR shocks and saw the llames of the burn ing structures Hocked there from mile around, but could render no aid to the Injured. The people were terrified, and held back In constant fear of the ex plosions. A few men who were In the buildings managed to escape, and they ran about the country bewildered. When the wives and relatives of the employes of the factory approached the burning buildings the scene was most heartrending. The women tore their hair and ran about In a pltable manner. When one of the few fortunate surviv ors was met by his family the picture was almoit Indescribable. I The bodies of the dead were horribly mangled. The head was missing from some, while here and there lay legless and armless trunks. Many of Ows in- J Jured were cut and mal.tied so badly that some of them cannot recover. Tho dead are Alfred Hailck, William Stumpf, Casper Hay, David Scheer, , William Haycock and Ellas Abtrs. All , the killed leave families. NUGGETS OF NEWS. What woman in II the wide world ould not be glad ) be a tandem for vo happy, healthy. prattling babies? When Nature whispers the sweet assurance W in a woman's tear that soon a little stranger will come to caress with lialiv finirpra her cheek and" neck, .he makes the fondest preparations for its arrival. Kverything" that a woman's dainty taste can imagine is provided for the new-comer's wardrobe. Nothing is overlooked save one thing, and that one thing is the most important. Too many mothers forget that baby's strength and health, its ability to withstand the usual ailments of childhood, and its vigor and welfare, as a man or woman, are de pendent upon her own health and physical condition during the period of prospective maternity. If, during that critical time, she H weak, sickly, nervous and despond ent, because of troubles peculiar to her sex, these conditions are bound to have their influence upon her baby's health. Neglect of these conditions invariably means that baby will be weak, puny and peevish. Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription is an unfailing cure for all troubles of this nature, and it will reinforce a woman's bodily and nerve strength so that she can safely undergo the trials of maternity. It gives health, strength, vigor, elasticity and endurance to the organs specially con cerned in motherhood. It gives bodily and nervous hardihood to the child. " After using fifteen bottles of your ' l'avorite Prescription ' nnd a few vials of your ' l'lensaut Pellets,' I run entirely cured of uterine trouble.
