a statement to the newspapers In
which he takes exception to the state
ments made over the firm's signa

tariff bill so far as it affeoted the
Roeblings' industry. The original
statement declared that the employee
of Roebilng had been cheated in the
passage of the Dlngley tariff bill, and
that next time they would probably
vote the Democratic ticket. Colonel
Roebilng said that the first statement
only represented the individual views
of his brother, F. W. Roebilng. Colo
nel Roebilng said further that he was
satisfied with the Dlngley tariff bill,
and that their mill Is busier than ever
before. F. W. Roebilng, on the other
hand, said he had authority to sign
the firm's signature, and that Colonel
Roebilng only spoke for himself.

The plan of the robbers was to go out
on the railroads and break Into f-ars.
Before reaching Dalton the goods were
ITirown out and carried away by con

sold by the gang toj the Dalton mer
chants. The work continued for years.
Superintendent Vaughn, of the South

Rotterdam, Oct. 9. A man named
Gustave Muller has surrendered to the
city police, confessing the murder of
his wife and child. As proof of the
truth of his confession he produced
from his pocket four human ears. The
police, on searching his house, found
the two bodies. Muller subsequently
confessed that he had also killed his
parents, mutilating their remains in the
same manner, and then he made the
astounding statement that he had
similarly disposed of 14 wives, whom
he had married in various parts of the
world.

people
have a
superstition that
an evil eye may be
cast upon a person
to bring all sorts ur
trouble and mis
fortune. That
seems like a pretty
foolish notion ,
but it Isn't much
worse than some
of the notions
which civilized
people indulge in
One worn out su
nerstition is the be
lief that if a man inherits weak lungs from
his parents he is pretty sure to die of con
aumption. The actual fact is that if sueli
a man will only take proper care of himseli
he will really be safer from consumption
than a careless person who has no inherited
weakness. Carelessness is the real evil eye.
Carelessness will develop a tendency to
consumption in any body.
The lungs are composed of very delicate,
setnitive tissue, even in the healthiest p r
son ; that is why they yield so quickly to tlii
attack of tainted blood. If the blood is
lowed to get impure and impoverished, and
bile-poisoned, the seeds of consumption
will spring np in the best kind of a const i
tution. The real consumption-taint is in
the blood.
Hundreds of cases of so-called "hcrnli
tary" consumption have been completely
and permanently rooted out of the system
bv Dr Pierce's Golden Medical Discover-,
limply liecause it gives the blood making
glands power to pour a fre-sli abundant sup
ply of rich, red, healthy, blood into the
circulation. This drives out all poiotioe
and unhealthy germs It stops the waste of
tissue and the formation of morbid depoMt
builds np fresh, normal, healthy lung tissue
and solid, muscular strength
In all the weakened debilitated conditions
which ate the forerunners of consumption.
Dr Pierce's Discovery is the most .or
feet nutritive and strength-builder. It it.
assimilated by the weakest stomachs.
