President Cleveland's forest reservation order was the subject of much debate, and the house voted not to concur in the senate amendment to annul the order, with the understand Ing that the conferrees should arrange, an amendment which would have the same effect. The appropriation of 50. 000 to improve Pearl harbor, in the Hawaii islands, was rejected by a vote of 86 to 68. Moet of the time was taken up with arguments hy counsel and discussions over many points, both of an important and trivial nature. The prosecution called two of tho directors of the electric railway to show that they had received a copy of tlio letter sent to the prosecutor, Mr. Koch, and which is claimed to bo libelous. Ex-Water Superintendent lletteridge has charge of a force of men who are making a road aloug the east sido of tho Lehigh Valley railroad for the carting of the dirt and rock that will accumulate in making excavation on the west side fur tho proposed power station.
