The Lenten .Season at Atlantic Clly. With a regularity that begets emulation, le beau munde has entered into its penitential retreat at the City-by-the-Sea. Never In the history of Atlantic City has a lenten season opened and progressed so auspiciously. The ocean-front hotels are filled to ovcr-llowing, and the daily promenading oil the osplanade is exceeded only in exteut by that of the mid summer season. As this week marks the advent of tbo family of the Chief Magistrate of our laud, the registers of tlio leading hotels are filled with tho names uf the elite of over a dnzon Eastern States. The climate at this season of tho year is surporb. Tho balsamic breezes from tbo vast piuo-belt on the west blend iu sweet harmony with the ozone from tho sea, shedding over tho "Sweet, fair IbIc" an atmosphere eminently curativo nnd exceedingly tropical. With such health-engendering spot nt our very doors ono need not go to Florida or Southern Cali fornia to regain lost vitality. Although ostensibly a period of penitence yet there is tlio noticeable presence of gayety. If popular preference is a criterion of superiority, then the "Royal Heading Route" enjoys that distinction. Its Bwift, safo nnd sumptuous trains run over tlio finest piece of railway in tne world. Double-tracked aud stone-balatted from the Delaware to the Sea. Safe-guarded by tho Hall system of automatic block signals. 1 ho engines burn exclusively hard anthracite coal, thus insuring immunity lrom sniolso, clntlors and sulphur. From interior State points passengers are conveyed Into the capacious nnd handsomo Reading Tormlnal at Market and Twelfth Btreets, Philadelphia, tho very centre of the city's business activities. I'pon reaching tbo street one tluds the surface electric cars which will tako him to tho spacious Ferry-house at tho fout of Chestnut street, viewing en route hustling business houses and huge sky- scraping structures. Here you hoard one of the Reading's superb boats for tho Camden terminus of tho "Royal Route," observing as you pass down the river the vast harbor of Philadelphia. Reaching Camden you find one of the famous "Flyers" Iu readiness. A trip to Atlantic City via the "Royal Reading Koine is a never-to-be lorgotten pleasure. Tho Ilest of Life.
