A teachers' business meeting was held In tho High school room at 1 o'clock yesterday aftornoon. Superintendent llogart presided and mado several suggestions to the teachers. Ho said calisthenics should be substituted for tlio marches in tho schools. Hereafter bi monthly instead of monthly reports will ho sent to parents. Meetings of tho different grades will ho held next Thursday, at 4:30 p. m., to arrange for work closing the October month. In referenco to professional work, the Super intendent told tho teachers to ask themselves what they are reading and doing in tho lino of progress professionally what havo they gathered that they can bring before tho Insti tute to show progress? Ho called attention to tho fact that there are too many cases of tardiness 011 the part of the teachers and tlio rule rcquiringithat such tardiness bo reported to tlio Superintendent is being violated. Ho also said that in doing class work many pupils who need assistance are not reached and this means a necessity for more indi vidual work for thoso who are naturally slow and for whom especially tho schools are in tended. And In this connection it was also stated that largo classes arc too cumbersome to haudlo effectually. It was thought best, also, that cacli grammar grade consist of two years' work.
