Cincinnati, Aur. S3. At Now Rich mond, O., twonty-ilvtvinllei up the Ohio rlvsr from Cincinnati, lato yesterday afternoon a mob took Noah Anderson, colored, from jail and hanged him for the murder yesterday of Franklin Frldman, nearly 80 yuars old, and president of tho Irst .National bank of that place. . Mr. Frldman was among tho wealthiest men In Clermont county. Ho owned a number of farms and lived at Clermont vlllo, about two miles from Now Rich mond. He was driving Into Now Rich mond shortly nf tor noon, when ho stopped at one of his houses. Hitching his horse at tho dooryard he went Into an adjoin Ing Hold, where he was attacked by Noah Anderson, a musoular negro, who had no weapon but his hands With those ho qulokly bore the banker to earth und then, clutching his throat with the power of a demon, ho literally choked his victim to death. When satisfied that tust man was dead Anderson fled. Soon the prostrate man was born to the house and found to be past all help. The news of the murder spread swiftly. Everybody knew Mr. Frldman, and It was not long until Anderson was captured and taken to tho New Richmond jail, where a great crowd quickly gathered. Anderson made no attempt to conceal his crime. He gloatingly told all tho details and said he had given the old man what he deserved. It Is said that Anderson was not right In his mind, and that one of his hallucinations was that Frldman had de prived him of a large sum of money. The truth is tho two men had had no dealings together, as Anderson came to Now Rich mond on a shanty boat only a few months ago, and claimed to be a paperhanger. The crowd about tho jail Boon becamo wildly excited. As the negro's confession became known cries of "Lynch him I" Hang the coward I" arose. A rope was brought and tho end seemed near. Prom inent citizens addressed the mob, implor ing moderation. Anderson was In his cell on his knees, crying for mercy. The marshal, when a momentary lull came, attempted to take Anderson to a more se cure jail at Batavla, the county soat. No sooner did tho man appear outside tho jail than the frenzted mob rushed at the marshal and, Bolzlng the prlsonor, bore him quickly to tho nearest tree, and in a brief time he was dead. There was uo masking, no attempt at concealment. Every person present and engagod In the mob knew nil the others. It was simply au act of frenzy undermost aggravating circumstances. Tho mur dered man wus endeared to overy citizen. and bis taking off wus so sudden that his friends and nolghbors seemed to havolost their reason. Tvrenty-one Itodles Itecovcred. Denver, Aug. 23.
