John J Bubcock, the general agont for the Springfield Fire and Marino Insurance Company, of Springfield, Mass., Is In town settling the losses sustained by some of the people on account of Saturday's fire. HAimtsiirEO, Jnne 4 Owing to the delay of the piinter in furnishing bills and calendars the Senate's session did not begin until 10 o'clock. After the U9unl commit tee reports, the Senate concurred in House amendments to the bill appropriating 50,500 for the payment of inauguration ex penses. The Senate refused to concur in House amendments to the bill appropriat ing $20,000 to the Phrenixville Hospital. The amendments cut tbe appropriation down to $4,500. When tbe bill Hxing the term of Notaries Public came up on final passage it received 2G votes, just enough to pass it, but three Senators changed their votes, thus defeating the bill. To this Senator Giady objected the change being in. direct vio'atlon of the rules. He was ignored, however, by Pres ident pro tern. Thomas, nnd it was by tbe most persistent demands for a hearing In which he was backed up by Senator Flinn, that Senator Grady finally secured a hear ing. Senator Thomas opparently did not know on what bill Grady was arguing, but finally declared that there was nothing in order but the reading of the next bill unless Senator Grady desired to take on appeal. This Grady declintd to do, though he pro tested vigorously against the high-banded and unfair uction of tbe Chair. Honse bill regulating tbe food supplies of charitable institutions was defeated on final pasage yeas 21, nays 5 less than a constitutional majority voting for it. Other House bills which were passed un amended are n? follows: To amend an act to prevent persons from unlawfully using or wearing the insignia or rosette of tbe military order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, or the badge or button of tbe Grand Army of the Republic, or the badge or shield of tbe Union Veterans Legion; relating to tbe ubo. of oils or other produce for illuminating purposes iu tbe anthracite and bitumiuus coal mines; punishing tbe printing, posting and distribution of any libelous circulars or posters or other written or printed paper; to provide for the ap pointment of inspectors by the Governor for the cities of first and second class to inspect scales, weights and measures. The first nnd second reading calendars were cleared up. A number of bills were reported irom committee and several con ference reports were agreed to. Senator Kennedy offered a resolution providing for the appointment of a com mittee to examine into the work of the public school system of the State with in structions to report at the next session of the Legislature. This committee was appointed as follows: Senators Kennedy, Brown, Frnit, Snyder, Walton, Green and Thomas.- General Gobin submitted the re port of the Norristown Hospital Investi gating Committee which was ordered to be printed. Adjourned at 6'10 until to-morrow at 9-30 A M. In the House. The Honse met at 10 o'clock and began consideration of a mixed calendar, compris ing Senate and Appropriation bills. The bill appropriating 10,000 for tbe Valley Forge Park Commission passed finally. It also authorizes the Commissioners to nccept gilts of money or land, and to permit the United States or any State to. erect monu ments or other memorials on the ground acquired or to be acquired for said park. Tne bill to pay to Henry A. coiweii, tor- merly of tbe Kittanning Iron and Steel Company $437.50, being tbe amount of bonus paid into the State Treasury, was defeated. Appropriation bills were passed finally as follows, nnd rushed to the Sen ate: Howard Hospital, $5,000; West Side Hospital, $5,000. Tbe Senate bill granting pensions to enlisted men from this State who were in the service of the United States at the outbreak of tbe Rebellion who are not pensioners nor applicants therefor under the United States statutes were recommitted to the Committee on Pensions and Gratuities. The Senate bill to empower the Governor to suspend the State qarantines, etc., and to aban don the present Lazaretto, passed second reading, senate Dili to prevent iraua in the sale of transoceanic passage receipts, ordera or tickets passed finally unamended, as did also tbe following: Permitting the establishment of free public libraries in tbe several school districts, except in cities of tbe first and second class; authorizing the Superintendent of Public Instruction to employ a stenographer ana typewriter; pro viding for the publication of an extra edi tion of the State publication, Pennsylvania at Gettysburg. The Senate bill authorizing roaa super visors to erect a suitable building in which lo hold elections, store machinery and tran sact township business passed finally as amended. Senate bill authorizing and requiring tbe entering and indexing of judgments and de crees of the United States Circuit and Dis trict Courts for the purpose of lien within the several counties was defeated. Senate bill authorizing Courts of Com mon Pleas to decree tbe dissolution of cer tain corporations in certain cases and to order the sale ot their real estate and make distribution of the proceeds thereof passed finally. After concurring in Senate amendments to a few unimportant House bills, the House adjourned at 1 o'clock until this afternoon at 3, AFTEBNOOK SESSION. The House met at 3 o'clock. Speaker Walton announced that the bill to repeal the law of 1878, which provides for the di vision of counties and the creation of new counties, was on special order at this time Mr. Hurvev (Luzerne,) moved to post pone tbe special order until tbe same hour on Wednesday afternoon. Tbe motion was agreed to. Tbe House concurred in tbe Senate amendments to the following bills: Making an annronriatlon to the Uauviue insane Asylum. The amendment does not change the amount in the annronnation. To pre vent the adulteration of milk by so called preservation companies, The bill was amended by Inserting tbe words "bale or offerine for sale.' Renuirine tax col ltore tn ulve a numbered lax receipt numbered stub. This bill was amended by striking out cities, making the bill applicable lo towns nnd townsbipa only. Mr. Grig9by Lawrence moved to reconsider tne vote by which Sennte bill 05 authorizing and requiring the entering and indexing ot judgments and decrees in tbe United States Courts, etc., was defeated nt the forenoon session. The motion was agreed to and the bill amended by Mr. Nlles to satisfy the opposition. It was ordered to be laid over lor printing. THESE BILLS PASSED riNALLY. The Senate calendar of bills on third reading and final passage were taken up. The following passed finally without amendment: A supplement to an act to provide for tte appointment of viewers to assess damages where streets and alloys are changed entitling viewers to mileage iu addition to their per diem pay; author izing school boards to contract for n water supply and to locate fire plugs near school buildings relative to tbe time when tbe probate or refusal to piobate a will shall be conclusive as to real estate. Mr. Cochran (Armstrong), presented the report of tbe investigating committee on the Norristown Insane Asyiutu. For tbe informatiou of the niembeis be asked to baye several copies of the report printed and laid on their desks which was agreed to. The House at G o'clock adjourned till 7-30. AT THE NIGHT SESSION. Tho House met at 730 this evening. The bill relating to tbe time when tbe pro bate or refusal to probate a will shall be conclusive as to realty, which was defeated at the afternoon session, was reconsidered and passed finally. Tbe IIouso refused to concurr in tbe Senate amendment to the bill giving pref erence in employment and appointment to soldiers who fought in defeuse of the Union. These Senate bills passed finally withont nmendmcnt; amending tbe act of 1870, re lating to the salary of burgesses and ex tending its provision to all boroughs whether incorporation under general nr special laws; enabling watchmen or con stables to arrest withont warrant any person trespassing on the enclosed lands of a water company; to prevent the interfer ence of unauthorized persons with electrical couductors and electrical appliances. When the Senate bill changing Lnbor Day from the first Saturday until the first Monday of September in each year was read Mr. Fow paid the bill had been de feated in the House on the first day of May nnd was not now in order. The Speaker said there was no record to show this and paid Mr. Fow was out of order. Mr. Fow replied hotly to the Speaker say ing he would not receive his censure when he knew be was light. It was disposed of after looking over the Journal of tbe House that Mr. Fow was right and the Speaker beeged bis pa'don. At 10'35 tbe House adjourned until 10 A. 31. to-morrow. No Loss Uere. .
