Menage, the president of the insolvent Guaranty Loan company, are of n rather startling nature. The schedules of his liabilities sho5V that Menage began the systematic plundering of the company of which he wan president in November, 18f3, and kept it up persist ently until the suHpension of the company ou May, 1898. Upon an investigation into Its affairs he lied to South America. In that time Menage secured $8"i3,131.40 in oold cash, to say nothing of 1161,550, which he had secured previonsto the time mentioned above. On the 20th of last April be borrowed $56,000 from the com- rany. Four days before the suspension egot H8,S10.17 on one note, and one day before the suspension he took a last pull and seoured i 15,000. One day in January last ho drew $180, 000. Besides these amounts which were borrowed from the company on Menage's personal notes secured by "collateral se curities," other parties, private individ uals, banks mid corporations were played for about $700,000 more. Menage's total personal liabilities there fore are about $1,700,000. The greater part of this amount stands on the books of the Guaranty Loan company as assets. Me nage's private assets are for the most part in paper of doubtful value, although it contains some stock that may be realized on. Phi Jiibtlro IlHnsce Act Illegally? IIobokkn, N. J., Nov. 11.
